Poornima received a Filmfare nomination as Best Female Playback Singer for the song "Tera Mujhse Hai." Her nomination is the only Filmfare nomination for the film.[3] Aa Gale Lag Jaa is noted for its wonderful hit songs which had music by R.D. Burman with lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi.

The songs of this movie are popular till today, especially "Vaada Karo" and "Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka Nata Koi" are remembered till this day. The song "Vaada Karo" is an adaptation of Song for my Father by Horace Silver.
"You Are the Sunshine of My Life" is a 1973 single released by Stevie Wonder. The song became Wonder's third number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and his first number-one on the Easy Listening chart.[2] It won Wonder a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and was nominated for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year.[3] This song was the second single (following "Superstition") released from the 1972 album entitled Talking Book, which stayed at number one on the R&B albums chart for three weeks.[3]
