Still fails to emerge because of missing digest. If you look at the newly
generated manifest file, the only reference is the file
gnome-commander-1.2.8.15.tar.xz. The ebuild, ChangeLog and metadata.xml is
missing.
May be a portage bug?
Anyway, I copied the gnome-commander to my local overlay and
portage-2.2.0_alpha101 created manifest successfully with this command:

ebuild gnome-commander-1.2.8.15.ebuild manifest

keenblade, do you use rion as a whole overlay, or just symlink several
directories to your local one? rion uses thin-manifests feature:

Sorry for the fuss. You are right, I use symlink several directories to my
local one. I did not know about the thin-manifests.
