However, now that I have deleted it from the screen, with the message prompted saying that any memo synced to the cloud would remain there, I see that the space is still taken up. I assume I have to hit "delete app" from the storage part of settings, but the warning message reads something like "doing this will delete all the data associated to this iPad. This is irreversible" (I'm translating cause my iPad is set to French). However, I am not sure if deleting the app of my iPad will definitely keep all my memos over on my iPhone, and, most importantly, on the iCloud server, because I do not want to lose everything, so I thought I would check before risking to make a big mistake.

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We see you have some questions about your Voice Memos, and we'd like to help. When you delete the application, the memos should still be saved where you backed them up, as you can restore from that backup at a later date. The following link can walk through how to delete Voice Memos: Edit or delete a recording in Voice Memos on iPhone - Apple Support

It looks like there is confusion here between the Voice memos app and the Voice Memos app data(the actual recordings). When you delete apps from one device, it will never be deleted from another device. With that being said, deleting the Voice Memos app from your iPad will not delete it from your other Apple devices.

That means, if you would like to remove your voice memo recordings from your iPad, and keep them on all other devices, you'll have to turn off iCloud for Voice Memo on your iPad. This way deleting them off your iPad won't delete them from your other devices. (iCloud keeps all devices in sync)

Alright, that's good to know but it's still not what I'm asking: will deleting the voice memo app from my iPad delete the memos from the cloud, or will I be able to keep the memos on the cloud and syncing with my phone?

I have a large voice memo that I recorded on my iphone. I want to copy it to Dropbox but can't work out how. The file it too big to save to Dropbox on my phone - it just stops. If it helps, I can see and hear the voice memo when I plug my phone into itunes, so if there is a way of moving a large file from itunes to Dropbox that would help.

If you grab voice memos with iOS devices, my proposal would be the app JustPressRecord. You can decide after recording whether you want the result as audio file, text transcript or both. It is available for i-devices and the Watch, which comes in handy because there is no keyboard.

Hi. You can do it in this way: add your voice memos to the Documents app, so it will be saved in an M4A format that you can easily convert, for example with this audio to text converter. It supports many audio formats, so you can easily save it and add it to Evernote.

Please mind: I do not want to save every voice memo / pdf, piece by piece, in a cloud or app nor send each of them, piece by piece, by mail. This costs too much time and nerves and is not a bulk move.

It simply reads out the data from the iPhone backup that you can create with iTunes. The program offers extracting all voice memos, as well as extracting all PDFs in "All PDFs in Backup". In the full version, you can then save them in one go to your pc. Thanks go to the pragmatic e-mail help including the screenshot.

At any time, you can browse and recover old files. iMazing displays your iPhone notes and voice memos just like on your device. Search and retrieve data from an old backup. Export it from your iPhone or iPad. All in just a few clicks.

If you want to automate the process even further, you can have your voice memos transcribed instantly when you drop them into a particular Dropbox or Google Drive folder. This can be done through Zapier:

With Apple's Voice Memos app, you've long been able to create voice memos on your iPhone to record conversations, dictation, and other audio notes. With iOS 12, Voice Memos segued to the iPad, and with iOS 13 and watchOS 6, the app is nestled on the Apple Watch.

Creating a voice memo seems simple enough; just tap the record button, right? There's more to it than that. You can name and save your recordings, edit an audio file, share it via email, save it to an online service, and more.

With iOS 13 and iPadOS 13.1, the app adds more accessible actions to copy and save your recordings to the Files app and Dropbox. The overall process for creating voice memos is similar on an iPhone and iPad, but some steps and tools are different, so we'll cover each device separately, concluding with the Apple Watch.

The recording is saved as a voice memo. From here, you can play and pause the recording as well as skip ahead or go back 15 seconds. To give the recording a specific name, tap the default title of New Recording and rename it.

To change the name, tap the default name and type your new name through either dictation or scribbling. Tap the ellipsis icon and you can delete the recording. Otherwise, the recording will sync to your other supported Apple devices via iCloud. You can always go back to the Recording screen and tap the Record button to create another voice memo.

Recently, with settings - general - iphone storage saying 54GB used, voice memo will hang when ending the recording. I need to swipe up to kill / close it and resulting in a recording with maybe the last 1/2 hour missing.

If you're the type of person who better remembers things by recording an audio note, then the built-in Voice Memos app is a quick and easy solution. With this native app, you can record audio directly with your iPhone or iPad and have it accessible from any device with iCloud. Whether it's a lecture at school, a voice-over for a video, an interview with someone else, Voice Memos on your best iPhone will get the job done.

Ive just got my hands on a used iPhone 7 4.7 and have just one issue. The bottom microphone works for voice calls yet when recording using the voice memo app the microphone is very quiet on playback. It does pick up my voice if I shout into it, the scrolling noise bar thing does show its receiving sound. If using normal volume to speak into it the scrolling bar thing stays pretty much horizontal.

Syncing with iTunes can cause the music on your iPhone to be removed in exchange for what's on your computer. Check your settings carefully, and ideally use one of the other methods to transfer your voice memos.

However, the recordings are stored in your home folder in Library/Application Support/com.apple.voicememos/Recordings. To get there, use the Go menu in the Finder with the Option key held down and select Library. Then dig down into Application Support, com.apple.vociemems and then Recordings.

If you use this app a lot, you'll start to amass a long list of memos. Without any means of organising or sorting these memos, they quickly become unmanageable. For this reason, we recommend transferring the voice memos off your iPhone and onto your computer.

Filter Voice Memos: You can filter your voice memos in TouchCopy by using the "Filter Dates" (PC) or "Date Range" (Mac) button. Select 2 dates to only see the voice memos created in that time.

Select the voice memo you wish to copy to your computer and click the "Save to PC" or "Copy to Mac" button in the TouchCopy control bar. TouchCopy will copy your voice memos to a location chosen by you on your computer - you can take this opportunity to create a new folder for your selected voice memos.

Getting voice memos on your Mac from your iPhone is a piece of cake, but it isn't that much harder to access them on your PC. There are several ways to do this, including using iCloud, the Share, or using a third-party app such as EaseUS MobiMover. If you have an older computer and iPhone, you could also use iTunes.

Apple has implemented a ton of wonderful features into their iPhones throughout the years, and Voice Memo is one of them. It gives you freedom to just record whatever is on your mind, no matter where you are in the world. But, when it comes to sharing them via email, it can get a little tricky, which is why we're going to discuss some simple methods to tell how you can send voice memos from iPhone to email.

Now that it's in your iCloud Drive, go ahead and create a new email. Tap the screen once to bring up the on-screen menu and hit the right arrow until you spot "Add Attachment". Click that, then once your iCloud Drive pops up just select the voice memo you want to send.

As you can see, these two methods do work but they are a little inconvenient - you will have to add voice memos from the app Voice Memos to iCloud Drive or Note one by one!
