Hello everyone,

Sorry for the short notice. A few local people in the game/media industry are meeting informally this Thursday night to discuss game projects, and it'd be great if any interested IGDA members could stop by. We'll be meeting at the Flying Star in Corrales , 10700 Corrales Road, Thursday the 24th at around 6:30 pm. If that time doesn't work please let me know and we can change the time in the future.

Thanks,
Curtis Bennett

Hi Curtis,

Please forgive my bluntness, but who are you and what is your role in the game/media industry in Albuquerque? I just thought I knew everyone in the game scene locally.

I should be able to make it. Do you know who else is going to attend?

Thanks so much,

Sean

Hey Sean. Curtis has been part of the abq game dev community for some time. He worked with Rival Theory for a while, then Lego and Backflip in Colorado before returning here a few months ago.

Curtis is a great resource for the local IGDA.

Maybe ask for people's bona fides off-list. Kind of a jerk move, otherwise.

That's awesome! Thanks for the heads up Bill. Are you back in town yet?

On the other hand, it's nice to have the information shared.  Help determine whether I want to make the drive :)

Hey Luke.  Haven't seen you in a while. I hope all I well.

I don't think that's what Sean meant. I think he was really just asking "who are you?" Not necessarily questioning his cred.

I'll introduce myself better in the future, and I'm currently a senior programmer at Ideum, http://ideum.com/, which you might know more for their museum work, but lately they've been doing more work in games, making some games and releasing a tool, https://gameplay.gestureworks.com/. A few Ideum people have been wanting to meet more people locally involved in games and plan to be there.

Thanks,
Curtis

No harm meant. I've just been receiving a lot of spammers via email lately. I was genuinely surprised I didn't know someone in the games industry in Albuquerque.

Apologies for not using emoticons.

I'm sorry Sean, for calling you a jerk. Your question to Curtis seemed a lot less hostile on a second read through.

Hi Bill, good to hear from you. And glad to hear Curtis is back in town!

So when are *you* visiting!?

FYI... I've added this over at meetup (http://www.meetup.com/RG-IGDA-Meetup-Group

Curtis, if you'll join the group, I'll make you an organizer, etc. etc.

Very cool to see this moving forward!
