This next Coronado Ventures Forum event promises to be really good, focusing on key aspects, innovations and opportunities in interactive media.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Coronado Ventures Forum (CVF), their mission is to bring together New Mexico's investment community, innovators, entrepreneurs and others supporting new ventures.  In a change-up from their usual format, this will focus on demos of particularly innovative work at the Andaluz in downtown Albuquerque.

Greetings Eric,

July 19, 2012: Exploring Human Computer Interaction (HCI)

Click and Register

We will explore the topic of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) in an interactive way with demos from companies working on fascinating HCI technology. The audience will have an opportunity to interact with the products, check out the demos and speak to the industry leaders developing this emerging market.

Human Computer Interaction (HCI) is an area of technology, which, as the name implies, improves the way we communicate, use and interact with computers. Picture the world you saw in the movie “Minority Report,” and think about the new business models that could result if such technology were affordable and readily available. Touch-based consumer tablets alone opened up new market and business opportunities that did not exist even a few years ago. HCI developments, such as multi-touch screens or gesture-based communication, provide new and revolutionary ways to solve old problems.

HCI combines computer science, behavioral psychology, ergonomics, and design to make the computers we use every day more usable and receptive to our needs. Specific areas of development include multi-touch technology, gesture-based computer interaction, motion-capture, and augmented reality. Panelists include:

  • Tom Anderson, Managing Partner, Customizabooks LLC
  • Stephen Guerin, Founder, SimTable
  • Jim Spadaccini, Director, Ideum
