i've had a really interesting week. last monday, i went to my fourth GWAR show here at the house of blues in orlando. it was of course, a totally awesome show. they managed to slaughter george w., dick cheney, michael jackson, the nazi pope, and sharon osbourne since she won't let GWAR on the ozzfest tour. she says they are just another "gimmick band, in clown makeup." excuse me, but isn't heavy metal all about gimmicks and ridiculous crap? yes. don't even deny it, metalheads. it's all about the gimmicks and the image. anyway, oderus was hilarious and it was a really fun time.

then on saturday night, i went to see my friend alex's celtic band play at an irish pub in cocoa beach with matt. i picked up jay to come along, because i'm nice like that. anyhow, they played a thirty minute set - and they were actually quite good and a very fun listen. their drummer kept eyeing me, i think. after we hung out there for a couple hours, we went for a latenight mac attack... only this 24 hour mcdee's didn't have regular, small hamburgers after midnight! can you believe such luck? all we wanted was a couple burgers. lame.

on sunday afternoon, matthew and i drove back to orlando to attend the orlando philharmonic orchestra's concert of a few pieces from movies. it was awesome - i even saw a celebrity: the news anchor for channel six news, martie salt! that's a big deal, and she looks way better in real-life than on the cameras. the orchestra began with the william tell overture. they played a short cartoon from the lone ranger while they played it. i was hoping for the corresponding scene from a clockwork orange. dang. next, they played some music from harry potter. after that, they performed the theme from spiderman. it was amazing to see violinists and cellists' hands move so quickly. they did a special feature from a local composer's work on an animated film. lastly, the maestro came out in a darth vader costume and directed the symphony in a star war's medley! it was... so awesome. matt had to be a turd and point out that darth was wearing black galoshes. i say props to wearing gloves and not sweating to death in a puddle on stage. that's hot. this december, i'm going to see ol' beethoven's ninth in tampa.
and how can i explain this week without my "HUNKERING DOWN" for hurricane wilma? the wind was making the raindrops so angry on the windows while i was sleeping, and it was so dark! i was staying at matty's house... and there ended up being a tornado a mile away. their yard is pretty much all underwater and a lot of trees are uprooted and fallen over. i also stepped in dog shit on my way out to the car. but to make up for that shit (pun intended), it is 58 F here in orlando... it feels amazing outside. it's clear and crisp outside because hurricane wilma took all the rain and humidity with her. it feels like winter for once in florida, before january even!
my parents are coming to visit with my little dachshunds on wednesday night. they're driving down from north carolina to spend a few days. i am racing around trying to straighten my room for their arrival. you know how silly and critical mothers can be about your "dusty shelves" or the hair on the bath mats or the sliver of soap you insist on using until it's completely disintegrated.
