We did it.  There is a fence with two very nice hand made gates, a squash mound with many squashy starts, fence line crops for all to share of peas, beans, corn (not yet pooking up their heads) and pumpkin.  Several creative gardeners have made boxes to contain their precious soil and plants.  Some of you have not yet begun.

So this is a friendly reminder that we set the date of June 13 as the must plant by date.  After that date if you have not started your plot, or told us why not and when you will, then you plot will be re-assigned.
Also, several of you have not yet made your contribution of $5 to $25 dollars so please do so soon by giving it to Cathy, Randi, Seneca or Ann who are often at the site.  Of course you could also come to the meeting of the steering committee and pay then.  The next meeting is Thurs. June 18  at 6:30 at the pee-wee golf shack.

many many thanks to everyone who has worked on making the community garden a reality...we did it together.
What a pleasure to be able to sign off with:  See you at the garden,
Seneca

Dear Seneca,

In regards to the "reminder", you are apparently operating from a different rule book than the one I received or didn't receive as the case may be. There was no mention of this 3 days earlier when Ninique paid our dues. I am personally offended that you would threaten such action under the cover of a "friendly reminder" without giving any prior notice.
As a community project, I think that it is appropriate for the steering committee to operate from a perspective of inclusion not exclusion. I will be the first to admit that I haven't been available to participate in this project. However, if this tactic was intended to encourage participation, it has had the opposite effect on me.
For these reasons, please accept this as our notice of intention to withdraw from the community garden project.

Oh no! Ben & Ninique! Please, please, PLEASE don't resign! We've all worked so hard. Seneca isn't always the most diplomatic person (nor am I -- many of you know that she & I have butted heads before) ... but she means well, her heart is in the right place, & she's done a great job moving things along & handling the logistics. We -- as a group -- NEED to formalize our bylaws so we're all clear on & in agreement upon how these decisions are supposed to be made. Some of us believe that the committees should make the decisions, while others (including me) believe that the committees should make recommendations for us to vote upon.

Also, I'm sorry I haven't been around much. I'm swamped with our two new foster kids, plus it's summer vacation (i.e. no school). Richard will contact everyone about the sign, our donation, plot, etc.

-- Hang in there everyone.
