I tried different USB ports, and so that's not the issue. Unable to record and playback Rocksmith via USB. I can record ONLY IF I don't use my Line 6 Tone Port (I can record, but not hear... I'm using ASIO4ALL to record). I can only hear IF I reboot Sonar X3 once I reestablish Tone Port ASIO. Literally, this is the only way I can record... and then play back. I cannot hear anything that I'm recording, by the way. I have to record, reboot the program with the Tone Port (not ASIO4ALL) to hear the outcome. I can't even use my computer speakers to record and playback, which is very odd.
This is frustrating as I want to then use Guitar MIDI 2 plug-in so that I can use my guitar as a controller. Using my piano via USB is no issue. And I can record then hear the outcome with MIDI Guitar 2, but it's the same BS as above... getting Cakewalk to recognize Rocksmith properly (or... getting the input and output set up properly).
Is this what your trying to get to work with a DAW?? Good luck. If it doesn't come with a proper ASIO driver your bound to have issues. It might work if you try WASAPI mode and not asio4all. But this depends on your line 6 which I think is also a device that has weak ASIO support.
I tried the WASAPI and couldn't get it to work (which may be an issue with my lack of computer tech knowledge). The MIDI Guitar 2 company suggested: "install loopMidi and feed MIDI from MG2 into Cakewalk with a virtual midi cable," but I looked into it and couldn't figure out what the heck it was about or how to implement it in my DAW (even with the vague instruction).
I cannot speak to your audio interfaces but can share my experiences with setting up MIDI Guitar 2. My audio interface uses the factory supplied ASIO driver and all audio is handle by the interface. My guitar, headphones and monitors are attached to the audio interface.
To use MG2 outside of the DAW requires installing LoopMIDI or LoopBe1. I prefer LoopBe1 because of the buffering used by LoopMIDI. Regadless, any virtual MIDI cable should work. The setup is as follows:
Note: both methods do not load synths directly into MG2. This may be done and is necessary for play-in synths in the standalone version but it is not necessary when using a DAW. I prefer to run synths outside of the plug-in on their own tracks.
I just tested the rocksmith cable in WASAPI shared and Wasapi exclusive mode and it works fine here. I output through a different headset device. In fact in WASAPI exclusive I could go down to about 5 msec buffer sizes and it worked ok.
It also works with my focusrite as an output but the focusrite has poor WASAPI latency.
What problem are you running into - do you get any error messages?
Hi, I'm trying to record my guitar on the rocksmith real tone cable via Magix Music Maker, though its not picking up any sound even once I've selected it in recording setting, Music maker picks up my microphone fine but as soon as I try the tone cable its silent. The real tone cable picks up in windows and i can even hear sound from it in windows but music maker doesn't
I haven't seen any working solutions online for Magix Music Maker, anyone have any solutions
so I'm pretty sure the issue is that for whatever reason the Real Tone Cable won't transmit over WASAPI but it will over direct and Wave (recommend wave because it sounds less choppy) but the reason i could hear over wave and direct was because of the USB headphones.
thanks for the help.
I tried one of the really cheap ones and it was not worth it at any price. I had the official
Rocksmith Product and it seemed useable. I gave it to my daughter so I might try one again because it would be the simplest (i.e. least amount of parts to carry about). I have the really old headphone jack iRig (though I have misplaced it recently) and the newer iRig HD. The older one is still on amazon for $9.39... glad I checked. I'm going to pick up a couple. I just velcro an iPhone to the guitar and velcro one of these and plug my headphones right into the iRig and I can use Amp Sim's and AUM/FX on the iPhone. Since it uses the headphone I can also velcro a USB battery to the guitar and keep the phone running for hours. I can take walks and play backing tracks or iReal Pro and practice anywhere. The guitar cable to the iRig just needs to be at least 6 inches. I can also use the iRig to connector a condenser mic to the iPhone. I never tested using both USB iRig and headphone jack iRig at the same time for Mic and Guitar input.
hello, having issues with ventura accepting usb cable inputs, also noticed the same for microphones which is really disappointing, hoping to have a fix soon. the computer recognizes that its there but when actually connected to listen through sound there's no input, tried numerous walk arounds and using another usb digital audio system to connect that way buy it does the same
Same issue. Likely that Continuity Camera's integration with all things microphone negatively impacted Rocksmith 2014's handling of the USB cable, also a microphone. Hoping that Ubisoft will still support 8-year-old software but not keeping my expectations high.
This problem was circumvented by programming an EEPROM chip to impersonate the genuine cable. The USB interface used is set up to be programmed this way, so all that was needed was to program the chip appropriately, then wire it into the USB hardware. An Arduino was used to do the programming, and a sketch is provided.

You may be looking to learn how to play guitar. "Rocksmith,' which is a game/trainer that's produced by UbiSoft is a great way to learn electric guitar in the comfort of your home, but you'll need a specific 'Rocksmith' cable in order to play so that the game can recognize your tones. On eBay, you can find a wide variety of Real Tone cable packages, which will allow you to play single or multiplayer on this very useful guitar learning software.
This is a breakaway section of the cable that allows the cable to split into two components if it's suddenly jarred. This is very beneficial because it allows you to move around when you're jamming on your instrument without causing strain to the cable. Also, this makes the operation of the cable much safer when you're playing.
'Rocksmith' is available on a wide variety of systems, and as a result, you can purchase Real Tone Cables and use them cross-system. This means that you can play 'Rocksmith' on your desktop and still take the same cable with you when you travel with your PS4. Here's a list of products that are available when you want to play the game:
The Real Tone Cable for 'Rocksmith' allows you to be able to connect up to the game so that it can recognize your strums. One end of the cable has a standard guitar audio jack, and the other end has a USB connector. The cable is able to grab the analog signal from the guitar and translate it into digital data so that it can be processed by the system on which you are currently playing the game. As a result, the game can recognize when you're tuning, fretting, strumming, and playing chords.
I have successfully used Rocksmith with a Focusrite 2i2 interface from my MacBook. To do so, I created an aggregate audio device on my Mac, named it "Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter", and simply used the Focusrite 2i2 instead of the Rocksmith Real Tone cable. There were no other settings or hacks, and it worked flawlessly.
Now I have a Helix LT and I have been trying to use it in the same manner. My initial thought and hope was to simply replace the Focusrite 2i2 interface with the Helix LT interface within my aggregate device setup. I then created a Helix patch with no amps or effects, with the output from the Helix to the USB port. I tried using all of the Helix USB output options (1/2, 3/4, and 5/6).
Excellent...to quote Dumb & Dummer: "so you are saying there is a chance!" You mention using Rocksmith to the Mic input. Are you using the Rocksmith cable or just USB to the computer? Any other setup/connectivity?
My guess is that it's because the actual Rocksmith cable is set to 44.1, 16-bit, and I can't find a way to change the Helix from 24-bit to 16-bit mode. I'm assuming your old Scarlett supports both?
I'd appreciate it if you could give a quick setup. As in cabling, ASIO drivers, etc. Normal rocksmith cable's input latency seems kinda bad, even though I can play VSTs in my DAW just fine on another PC.
I just run USB to the Helix and let the chain take care of RS feed from the USB. I have a Mac, so all I need to do is route the Audio Output to the Helix or the PowerCab+. I use the Editors for the Helix and PC most of the time when I am modeling a RS custom tone. It all works very well. I don't really have to mess with the Global Setting of the Helix or PC as I seem to have good backing track volume out of the devices.
@jdag Admittedly, it's been a while since I made the initial settings Rocksmith 2014. I think there has been an update since I made the setting changes as I don't see the same options in the UI that I remembered. But I played RS this morning with Helix + Powercab + PC and it worked fine.
I ran some web searches and discovered the rocksmith.ini file. Like other applications, you can edit this in notepad and affect the startup settings. The forum wont let me post any more pics (maxed out total size I guess), but here is the text from my rocksmith.ini file located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rocksmith2014
