Dubai: A new medical fitness centre for conducting tests for the issuance of residency visas and renewal of existing ones was opened at Dragon Mart in Dubai by the Ministry of Health and Prevention on Wednesday.
Adopting smart procedures, the new centre will process applications and take samples for tests within 40 minutes and issue fitness certificates within 48 hours. This is the second medical fitness centre opened by the ministry in a mall, with the first opened at Ibn Battuta, to facilitate quick accessibility.
The new centre will cater to the community near Dragon Mart and is aimed at cutting back the waiting time and improving efficiency of visa issuance through the adoption of best practices in medical examination, electronic systems and smart technologies.
Inaugurating the new centre, Dr Hussain Abdul Rahman Rand, assistant undersecretary for Health Clinics and Centres, said the opening of the centre at the mall is a qualitative step to streamline the medical fitness examination system, which is fundamental for the prevention of communicable diseases.

All expats planning to stay in the UAE on a residence visa should be aware that they must provide documentation in the form of medical reports from medical examination institutes in the UAE to verify that they are free from contagious diseases.
It is mandatory for all expatriates seeking to obtain work permits or residence visas in UAE to be certified as medically fit and free of contagious diseases. These medical fitness tests must be performed at government-approved health centers in the UAE in order for the UAE to grant or renew a residency visa. Applicants of the medical test must be 18 or older.
In order to get the residence visa medical check-up certificate from HAAD, you will have to pay AED 250. If you want to get a specific result certificate of the Hepatitis B vaccine, it only costs AED 50.
All resident expatriates, while renewing their residence visas, have to undergo TB screening and those found with scars or active TB or found having drug-resistant TB will be issued a conditional fitness certificate and be issued residence visas for one year. They will then have to undergo treatment in the UAE.
You can check your medical fitness report in Dubai through the DHA Smart App. If you want to enquire about the status of your medical fitness test, you call the contact number of Dubai Health (80060) or visit the Capital Health official website. You only need to provide the application number, passport number, and date of birth.
