Forme it was a matter of consolidating the info I already knew. But a friend who already had alot of the knowledge still did the course, post course learning before sitting the exam and was miffed when he dropped 0.1% on the marks!

Its a good few years ago since I did mine and I was 9 months albeit not full-time, working with one night a week on the course and then study hard coming up to the exam. 2 weeks means he either had a very solid grasp of it before it turned to the books or something is a miss!

No way. I have several years experience and tried to sit for the CCNA about a year ago. (ICND1 and 2 in the same day) I paid for the exam on my own and scheduled it at a local consulting firm. I thought maybe there would be fewer people there, it would be more quiet, the equipment would be better etc. MAN I was wrong.

The 200-301 CCNA exam is the one and only certification you need to pass in order to earn the CCNA. Network administrators and IT professionals early in their careers tend to earn the CCNA because it covers the skills and knowledge needed to administer a Cisco network. But how long does it take to prepare for the CCNA 200-301? Well, according to our survey of over 1,300 IT professionals, it takes most people about 5 months to pass the Cisco CCNA 200-301 exam.

This survey is one of 15 different surveys we've created for the most popular courses on CBT Nuggets. Between Twitter, LinkedIn and a Google survey, we asked over 1,300 IT professionals who have earned the CCNA how long it took them to earn it. Read on and learn how long it'll take you to pass the CCNA 200-301, and what you can do to speed that process up.

In our Twitter poll, over 50% of all respondents said that it took them somewhere between 6 weeks and 5 months to prepare for the CCNA 200-301. On our LinkedIn poll, one-third of all IT professionals said the CCNA 200-301 took them more than 5 months. All other respondents, only 15% of CCNA holders, said it took them less than 6 weeks to study for it.

That means there are two large groups: people who could pass the CCNA 200-301 with about 3 months of preparation and people who needed more than 5 months of preparation. We can say that the gap probably comes down to real-world experience. New IT professionals with no work experience will probably take more than 5 months to prepare for the CCNA 200-301, while network administrators with a few years of work experience can probably pass the 200-301 in less than 3 months.

Studying for the 200-301 is even harder if you can't develop a good study habit. If you can only manage five minutes every other day, it'll take far more than 5 months to prepare for the CCNA. Molly Billow, CBT Nuggets senior coach, recommends establishing a study habit by rewarding yourself after every time you study.

The Cisco CCNA (200-301) is a world-renowned certification because employers know that it stands for practical expertise administering and managing Cisco networks. So it's not enough to know facts about Cisco hardware, you also have to have real-world experience, which you can get with the right online training course.

The CCNA (200-301) is a long and challenging exam that covers essentially every skill a network administrator would need to have before working on a Cisco network. The best way to know you'll pass the CCNA test beforehand is with a practice exam, like the ones that come with each CBT Nuggets subscription.

The second option provides two free study guides. The first is our free ICND1 100-105 study guide to help you achieve your CCENT certification. The second is the free ICND2 200-105 study guide to complete your CCNA Routing and Switching certification.

There is a LOT of material in CCNA R&S to learn. If you read something now, you might have no clue what it was about 4 weeks from today. To store information in your long-term memory, you need to review the material regularly.

An alternative to mind mapping software is outlining. An outliner is basically a bullet list on steroids where you can zoom in or out, highlight items, and move them around. I like to use one when I brainstorm or study. Here is an example I created with Dynalist:

In networking, you learn a LOT more if you do labs. Try things on your own, see if your routers and switches work the way you think they do. It also really helps to retain information if you see things in action. I wrote a bit more about this in the following post:

Yes, Cisco is changing all the certifications. However, this will be done in February 2020, so you do have time to study for your 200-125 exam and pass it before then. I would suggest you attempt to pass it some time in late December or early January. You should have enough time to prepare until then, of course depending on the amount of time you have on your hands.

Would u please suggest and guide us about the evolving tool come in networking market for practicing the troubleshooting or virtual scenerio

Like as I heard about cisco virl , dcloud , eveng , gns 3 .

This time I also found some free online exam prep tools, like LearnCisco.net. Pluralsight also had a deal with Kaplan for practice exams. Between LearnCisco.net and the Kaplan exams, I was getting exceedingly high practice exam scores and just thought that this time around I was going to nearly ace my CCNA.

You can achieve your CCNA Route Switch in two different ways. You can take the full CCNA or 200-125 exam, or you can take the 100-105 exam, or ICND-1 and earn your CCENT, or Cisco Certified Entry Level Technician, and then take the 200-105 exam, the ICND-2.

I just have to say this, you are the most truthful i have ever met in this journey of ccna, some make it look like its just a piece of cake passing this exam(cases like i read for just 1month and i made 975marks)and im stalk in a chapter for 3weeks

Thank you for your words, preparing for my Icnd1 and its really not easy putting all this in one head.

it is not certification experience but it is a method to get certificate. I need it because I need promotion on job. I tried before appearing in exam. They gave me updated material which help me a lot in passing my certification.

I want to compare your experience with mine, I think you traveled on tough path. I got exact material to pass my cerification.

I would urge you to attempt the exam before the change. The reason is because the study content available, including that on NetworkLessons, is specifically geared towards preparing you for this specific exam. When the new exam comes in, there will be a learning curve involved, so you may need to spend a bit more time getting familiar with the new philosophy.

There are so many options and configuration parameters that we cannot cover them all within the lessons. Parameters for each solution mentioned, GNS3, VIRL and so on, can be found at their respective sites.

I have set up all the connections to the ones shown above. I can ping between R1 and R2, and R1 and R3 using the serial connections. However I couldn't ping between PC1 and R2/R3. Therefore I created a static route as follows:

However, the next part of the case study asks to ping PC2 and PC3 from PC1, and it should fail. However mine is successful... Is there something else I should have done, or have I gone too far ahead etc?

You should pull those static routes out of R1 and R2. Then to test connectivity you should ping from PC1 to 192.168.12.2 and 192.168.13.2 that should work since those are connected networks and the router will know how to route to them. Now, when you ping PC2 and PC3 you will not be able to reach them since R1 doesn't know how to get to those networks. You may need to add a route on PC1 for those networks or make R1 the default gateway depending on how you have things setup.

Passing the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 200-301 exam requires extensive hands-on experience with Cisco networking devices as well as knowledge of computer networking concepts. Thus, you will not be able to pass the exam without thorough preparation. Fortunately, a wealth of videos, courses, labs and other study materials are available to help you do that.

Before embarking on a course of self-study, you must first plan out a study schedule that you can follow consistently. First, set a date for the exam and then decide how much time you will need to prepare. Give yourself two to six months before your scheduled date to become proficient in the exam topics. Decide which ones you are more or less familiar with and which ones will need considerably more study. Develop your schedule so that you can spend more time on those in which you are less proficient. Then, commit to setting aside a consistent block of time (from 20 to 60 minutes) for study each day.

You can also download a study plan from CBT Nuggets. Its CCNA Study PlanOpens a new window outlines the networking topics to study each week. By studying 30 to 60 minutes per day, CBT Nuggets says you should be ready for the CCNA in about 26 weeks.

It is also recommended that you supplement your study of each topic with readings from the official books for the CCNA exam: CCNA 200-301 Official Certification Guide, Volume 1 and Volume 2Opens a new window .

For those who prefer instructor-led training, there are several courses available to you. For example, you can enroll in Implementing and Administering Cisco SolutionsOpens a new window , a five-day certification training program that includes video training, labs, guided self-paced learning and practice questions.
