Michael Chao from Community Housing Partnership along with our
neighbor Chris Jaksa asked me to make sure that I let you about this
Thursday's Transbay CAC meeting (2/11/2010, starting at 5:30pm, at
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, 2nd Floor conference room, 701
Mission Street (at 3rd Street)). CHP and their partners involved in
the Transbay Redevelopment Area Block 11a - Supportive Housing Project
located on Folsom Street at Essex Street will present the design
schematic for the building at the Transbay CAC meeting. They would
love to have interested Rincon Hill residents attend the meeting and
provide feedback from the perspective of folks who already live in and
know the area like the back of their hands. I believe there's some
open space planned along Essex Street as well as part of the project.
I know the 5:30pm time is a bit of a challenge for folks stuck in
office jobs until that time or even later ... but please do try to
make the meeting if you can. CHP has been wonderful about working
with the neighborhood and keeping us up-to-date, starting before they
even got awarded the project by talking with us in December 2008 at
the RHNA meeting at One Rincon Hill.
Rewinding to Monday, February 8th - the South Beach/Rincon/Mission Bay
Neighborhood Association meets from 6pm until 7pm at the South Beach
Harbor Services Building (between Pier 40 and AT&T Park). Alan Mark
from The Mark Company will return to offer his expertise about the
real estate market along the SoMa waterfront. Also, SBRMBNA will hold
Board elections on March 8, 2010. Membership in SBRMBNA is $15 per
year for individuals and $25 for families.
This Saturday is the second Saturday of the month, and that means the
Bryant Bay Bridge Corridor volunteer group will be opening up our
future dog park at the NW corner of Beale and Bryant Streets for folks
to help clean up the lot a bit (pull weeds, pick up litter, etc.) and
for dog owners to bring their furry friends for some off leash
playtime between 9am and 11:30am. Our graffiti abatement superstar
Bob Fennell and his helper Nina dog are hosting this Saturday's drop-
in. Please note: Owners are legally responsible for their dog(s) and
any damage and/or injury caused by their dog(s).
Just a few more days for you to provide input about the Harrison
Street Park! The survey closes on the 10th, this Wednesday. Please
visit the project website at http://www.harrisonstreetpark.com and
choose "Take the Survey" if you haven't already done so in order to
provide your input. Based upon the meeting last Tuesday at the
Sailors' Union of the Pacific building, a dog area and a children's
play area are very popular amenities among the 115 or so respondents
to the survey so far. The next and final meeting regarding the park
is Thursday, February 18th at 6:00pm at the South Beach Harbor
Services Building. The meeting is hosted by our friends at Emerald
Fund and will be facilitated by open space advocates Isabel Wade and
Corinne Woods. By the way, keep your eye on our Yerba Buena neighbor
Jeremy's website http://www.livesoma.com for video he shot with Rose
of our Rincon Hill Neighborhood Association meeting last Tuesday.
Sunday Streets is coming soon to The Embarcadero from Pier 39 down
through the Rincon Hill neighborhood and over to China Basin/Terry
Francois Blvd. They sure could use your time and help as a volunteer
to make the event a great, safe success. Please visit http://www.SundayStreetsSF.com
to let the organizers know that you'd like to volunteer. Katy from
Portside (and SBRMBNA President) volunteers at practically every one
of the Sunday Streets events and absolutely loves the fun interactions
she has with folks enjoying the extra, temporary open space.

I noticed one of the artists' hearts for this year's San Francisco
General Hospital Foundation's Heroes & Hearts 2010 fundraiser contains
a beautiful illustration of the buildings in Rincon Hill and the
Financial District on one side and a map of the area on the other side
of the heart. It is appropriately called "In the Heart of the City"
and the artist is Michal Gavish. Take a look at it online at
http://www.sfghf.net/hh/gavish.html and donate if you can!
