1. Tethered capture of images and video - shoot remotely to automate the whole process, control all the camera settings remotely even in the most awkward camera position and view angle, minimize camera shaking and make perfectly sharp and precise shots.

I've gotten different responses in different places about the Sony Bluetooth remote, and how capable it for doing image stacking. Mostly, it sounds marginal, prone to losing connection, and far more basic and manual than even the basic capture capability provided by other manufacturers.

I am using the Sony Bluetooth Remote Commander, in the main as a simple remote. However I have used it to stack macro shots, setting the camera into manual focus you can then precisely change the focus point using the Remote commander's +/- buttons. As for connection, I've never had a problem during a shoot, but it does sometimes seem to be reluctant to pair for the first time.

Unless I can get Helicon Remote working, that remote may be the best option, though its not a good option, but it may be the only relatively cost effective choice for Sony. Most likely I'll wind up continuing to use the Nikon D850.

I'm curious about this too. It doesn't work at all on a7r IV, and I somehow have the impression that Sony have completely removed the ability to remotely control focus on this camera and others sharing the newer generation firmware. It used to work on older bodies.

The helicon remote has an inbuilt photo stacking programme, which once you have focused at the very nearest focus point and the last focus point, it will then when tethered, take a pre defined ammount of shots automaticly between the two focus points. Mainly used for macro.

Making sure that helicon remote works as expected on my phone in preparation of some insect safaris. The individual frames were stacked with zerene stacker. It's great being able to use my phone to remote control my camera - now it would be really cool if it was wireless.

CGAPL's 40-channel Data Acquisition (DAQ) system stores, and controls Plasma data collected by a multitude of diagnostics and sensors over long timescales. Often automation and remote operation of intelligent devices, like our high-performance spectrometer utilizing a volume-phase-holographic (VPH) grating and CCD camera with a range of 380-1090 nm and 1024x1024 resolution, are required in our adverse operating environment. This spectrometer will collect doppler shifted photons scattered by the plasma from a 2.5 J Nd:YAG laser to make direct measurements of the plasma's temperature and density as a single spatial point Thomson Scattering (TS) diagnostic system. A linear actuated periscope has been constructed to remotely redirect the beam so both 532 and 1064 nm wavelengths can be used. TS has the capability of determining plasma properties on short timescales and will be used to create a robust picture of internal plasma parameters. Concurrently, a fully protected Langmuir probe electronics system designed to track the change in the Ion Saturation current for plasma edge measurements has been constructed. Probe installation automation, optimization, and data collection obstacles, solutions, and procedures will be reported. Supported by U.S. DEPS Grant [HEL-JTO] PRWJFY17.

The simulations of the spatial distribution of rf power absorbed in a helicon ion source reveal a correlation between the depth of penetration of rf power into the plasma and the tilt angle of lines of force of the outer magnetic field. The deeper field penetration and greater power absorption were observed at large tilt angles of the field line to the plasma surface. The evaluations as to the possibility of excitation of helicon waves in compact rf ion sources were performed.
