I remember when we started in 1981, Education For All was our goal. Under the leadership and guidance of Prof. Chitta Ranjan Das, we had made great stride in terms of Innovative Schools, Barefoot Teachers, Creative Teaching Learning Materials and Further Reading etc. We were supported by the Ministry of Human Resource Development , GoI as well as International Donors. The idea of Alternative Schooling has been discarded now but look at our Government Schools! We feel very much concerned that a student in 8th Class can not read nor write his name or his village name as it has been published in the newspapers time and again. Against this scenario, we had experimented in 18 Government schools in 3 districts ( Rayagada, Koraput and Nabarangapur ) this unique experiment called Creative Language Development Efforts (CLDE) supported by USAID and there has been phenomenal results. Thanks to the District Collectors, DEOs and DPCs, they have permitted this experiment. We have shared our experiences with the Secretary Education and Development Commissioner. The experiment is over after 2years as it was a Pilot. I sincerely invite our Experts, Top Officials, UN Agencies, INGOs, Corporates, Teachers, Parents, NGOs and People's Representatives to visit the schools and find for themselves why this low cost experiment has succeeded and a class I and II children are able to read and write confidently and pursue a spirit of learning. The Government Teachers, Parents and the whole community are amazed by this experiment - an extension of our Mukta Gyana Kutir.
Our Mission is still incomplete as the USAID supported project is over but the challenge is its continuation on merit. The Government and the Corporate have the means and resources to carry forward in as many schools as possible to change the current status.
