Its been such a journey to watch Dana's personal story and the creation of this film evolve. I met Dana a couple of years ago, she had found me searching for chronic pain on Instagram whilst recovering from her failed spine surgeries and we instantly became friends.
I remember her telling me about her recent medical trauma and that she was in a really bad place and was suffering way more now than she previously was. We spoke specifically about Dr Hanscom that day and she told me that she had found him through the Curable app already. Dr Hanscom was a spine surgeon previously, before quitting to focus full time on the mind-body medicine approach so I knew they had to connect.
Dana's partner Krisanna Sexton is a talented filmmaker and together they have created the masterpiece documentary - LOVE HEALS, travelling all over the United States to document and understand how the mind-body connection and ancient energy healing principles have helped so many people heal from chronic symptoms. The film presents a beautiful balance of east meets west, with various medical and spiritual experts, energy workers, master trainers, and everyday people struggling with chronic issues. It combines the research of acclaimed scientists like Dr Bruce Lipton, chronic pain experts Dr David Hanscom and Dr Les Aria and the wisdom of globally renowned energy healers like Ilchi Lee.
Keep your eyes peeled, I'm also featured at the start of the film, as Dana tells the story of how she came about mind-body medicine. It shows Dana taking part in my online yoga classes from their home in Arizona!
I'm delighted to say that Dana is now lightyears away from where she was when I first met her, her pain journey has completely changed her career path, her relationship with herself and her suffering. Self-compassion brought Dana home to herself, she's back to hiking and fully enjoying her life again, transformed by this work and her dedication to finding a way out of chronic pain.

It was worth the time. The Captain and his crew are wonderful, knowledgeable and I felt safe(all around COVID-19 included) it was definitely a safari, I learned a lot about the different types of dolphin. We met up with several view of dolphins. But the adventure was in finding the Bryde's Whale and her calf. It was all so worth the speedy ride with few bumps and splash-
Had a great time and we saw bottlenose and common dolphins! Loved that the time was longer than other than other boat rides. Felt safe with the Covid precautions the company took. Great job Captain Steve and crew!
Really fun, would highly recommend, even if traveling with teenagers. Underwater viewing-pod was awesome, where dolphins were very interactive. Boat was very comfortable and never felt sea-sick. Crew was excellent, they are very knowledgeable, and answered all questions.
Capt Dave delivered. We spent about an hour and a half with two Blue Whales. I have travelled the world looking for these rare creatures and they were a 15 minute boat ride off the Californian Coast. Capt was very knowledgeable and gave us good viewing without interfering with the whales. Absolutely amazing tour. Oh, there were dolphins as well.
The tour said that we would see dolphins and we saw plenty! Our trip was on one of the catamarans with the viewing windows which allow underwater viewings. Amazing close-up views of schools of these beautiful animals. Crew was friendly and helpful. Wear sunscreen!
My family and I were touring California on a road trip. We wanted to book a boat trip at some point in our holiday and read about Captain Dave's tours and were impressed by the reviews. I'm so glad we did this tour as it was one of the best experiences we have ever had.
I was so pleased by the whole experience. It was great!!! Not only did we see whales, but we saw a dolphin baby pod of some 400 dolphin...The under water viewing was so cool!!! Our trip lasted longer than advertised after group permission was granted (just in case someone needed to get back on time but no one did!).
Our first trip with Captain Dave's was fantastic. The captain and crew were informative and welcoming. We felt safe and comfortable and, most importantly, saw hundreds of dolphins and a few sea lions. Luckily we went on a day when the boat was only about half-full but I think it would have been enjoyable even on a full boat. We look forward to going back in the future.
As Dana Point people, we have been on every whale watching outfit offered in Dana Point. Of all of them, Capt. Dave's is a repeater. From the warm reception and comfortable waiting area, to the length of the trip and the boats that are used.. the expertise of the crew, the cookies at the end of the trip and the great treatment of return visitors.. This is a great investment for anyone wanting to hit the waves while visiting the Dana Point/Laguna Beach/San Clemente/San Juan Capistrano area.
We saw the news on TV about the Dana Point whale watching festival on the next day and booked the ticket online that very evening. They had at least 3 tours on that day so there was no problem to get the tickets. The trip was really rewarding. I did one in Monterey Bay a couple of years back. Turbulent waters and no luck with whale at that time. This Dana Point trip was much more enjoyable, plus we saw so many times of the whales flipping their tales.
As a first time visitor to Dana Point for Whale Watching I HIGHLY recommend the "All Swell" smaller boat tour (max capacity is 28) it moves beautifully through the water, easy to see everything, and gets closer to the dolphins and whales! My Captain was Marie , and first mate Janelle. Great tour! Informative & fun! During our tour we saw common dolphins, a blue Whale! And Risso's dolphins! We took the 8:30AM Tour. You also get a brownie at the end of the tour :) #win
As a dedicated eco-friendly Dana Point whale watching tour group in Southern California, we are dedicated to providing only sustainable wildlife viewing. We believe in being good stewards of the ocean. That means using the best sustainable technology available and not watching whales from a fishing boat.
These are some of the larger dolphins encountered on our whale watching safaris, weighing up to 1,100 pounds and ranging up to 10 feet long. Whale watching Dana Point visitors may not see these dolphins as they are rather shy around boats.
Doing intestinal exercise is easy but important. You massage your organs, like the kidneys, by moving your abdomen in and out. This stimulates the vagus nerve, which sends signals to your brain, making it release relaxation hormones.
Unsure about what to do next after watching the film? Join our 90-minute online session with Ilchibuko, the trainer for the LOVE HEALS Retreat in the film, and Dana, as they explore various ancient East Asian energy practices featured in LOVE HEALS.

We arrived at the terminal in Long Beach in the morning. The parking lot was easily accessible with plenty of spaces. The lines to purchase the ticket was short and employees very efficient. The ride to the island is pleasurable!
Great way to travel to Catalina Island. Fast and efficient loading and unloading. Plenty of room for comfortable indoor or outdoor seating. Got to watch the dolphins playing alongside the boat, which was an added bonus!
The boat was on time both coming and going. Everything, including luggage drop was well organized. The seats were comfortable and there were option for both indoor and outdoor seating. Highly reccommend!
Clean fast ship with a pleasant snack shop that doesn't get ridiculous on their snack prices like movie theaters. They depart precisely on time. The most impressive to me was watching as the captain expertly pilot a fairly large craft!
