Click on the names of the help workers during the time/day indicated to get help. Math Help Sessions are staffed by graduate students and can serve students in any undergraduate mathematics course. Math Help Sessions meet Monday through Friday, June 3 through July 26, 2024. Zoom help will be CLOSED Wednesday, June 19 and Thursday, July 4th, 2024.

The Math Help Center provides free tutoring to UNCG students enrolled in 100-299 level MAT and STA courses offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The Math Help Center offers in-person tutoring and virtual tutoring. The in-person drop-in tutoring is in Curry 210. Online students have access to virtual tutoring through Microsoft Teams. Please check out the availability for tutoring by going to go.uncg.edu/trac. If you have any questions about the Math Help Center, you can email the Director of the Math Help Center, Matt Jester, at mwje...@uncg.edu. If you have any technical issues with TracCloud (go.uncg.edu/trac), please email tutortrac-...@uncg.edu with as much detail as you can provide.

You are more than welcome to wait for a tutor to have a spot to open up. Use the kiosk to sign in to the math help center, then sit in our waiting area. As soon as a seat opens up, the tutor or desk assistant will call your name and get you set up. While you wait you can prepare questions and concepts that you need assistance with.

Every student has different situations and goals, which means there is no guaranteed outcome for tutoring. Although, if you are 100% committed to developing your academic skills in a course, you will:

The tutoring schedule will be available on the Math Help Center Canvas site. The Math Help Center is only open Monday through Friday when classes are in session during the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. Use the buttons to the right to enroll in the Canvas course to access this information and to gain information for online tutoring.

All tutoring sessions within the scheduled times are free to UNCG students enrolled in the supported mathematics and statistics classes. Tutoring is first come, first served both face to face and online; no appointments necessary.

Occidental's mathematics program aims to serve the diverse needs of students in the physical sciences, social sciences, and liberal arts as well as mathematics. Study and problem-solving in mathematics at all levels provide a paradigm of critical thinking: identifying and questioning premises, inferring patterns from evidence, deducing conclusions from hypotheses, and expressing ideas clearly. Other disciplines rely on mathematics to provide technical tools for precise reasoning and communication.

Upon graduation, some mathematics majors go on to graduate or professional school while others begin careers in teaching, business, industry, or government. The mathematics major can be structured to provide a solid foundation in the mathematical sciences--pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and operations research--and fields close to mathematics--computer science, actuarial science, and engineering. A major or minor in mathematics can also provide an excellent technical and theoretical complement to a major or minor in other fields.

Columbia teaching assistants are available for help with College Algebra/Analytic Geometry and Calculus I, II, and III in 502 Milstein Center on Barnard's campus. See schedule for names and times.

Columbia graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants are available in 406 Mathematics Building on Columbia's campus for help with Calculus IV and Higher Math courses. See schedule for names and times.

There are several resources available for extra help with mathematics and statistics courses in addition to your instructor's office hours. Help Sessions are free. No appointment is necessary. Bring your textbook and any other needed materials.

Help Sessions for students in STAT 111 and STAT 141 will run according to the following schedule for the Spring semester from Tuesday, January 24 through Thursday, May 4 (except during UVM holidays and recesses).

Drop-in homework help is available for lower-level math classes (up through 252) during regular library hours during Fall, Winter and Spring terms. The library is closed during Summer term and intersessions. If you need a book from the library when we're closed, please place it on hold or email mat...@uoregon.edu.

Do you need a little bit of help with your math homework? Maybe you are confused about an example from your book or need some guidance when studying for an algebra or finite math exam.

The MASS Center includes free tutor-supported study tables for many undergraduate mathematics courses, in addition to several science courses that require strong mathematical competency. The MASS Center also offers a 1-credit hour course, MATH 1096 Supplemental Review Sessions (SRS) to assist students with their math course.

The MASS Center offers study tables for several courses across the university. By reviewing the schedule below and attending the study table for their course at the assigned time, students can guarantee that a tutor will be available to support them and their fellow classmates when they arrive.

Students are welcome to drop into the MASS Center during a time their course is not offered. MASS Tutors may be able to assist them with their course outside of the listed hours. Students can check with the MASS Front Desk Assistant to see if a tutor is available.

Study tables provide a collaborative learning space so that students can learn from their peers who have excelled (the table leader) as well as their fellow class members attending the study table. Tutors at MASS study tables will not directly aid with graded homework or course assignments, nor do they "solve" the problems for students. Rather, MASS Center tutors will work with you to determine how to succeed in your class and with a given content question.

Things aren't adding up? We're here to help. Our tutors can lend a hand with everything from basic algebra to intermediate-level statistics. You'll learn how to clarify new information, demonstrate problem-solving skills and work through example problems. You're not alone. We're here to help you succeed.

Notes/Advice: All tutoring is walk in and we will try to help as many students as we can, but some hours are just busy than others and we only have a certain number of tutors available at a given time, so whether seeking help in person or online:

The purpose of tutoring is to give you additional help and explanation for mathematical concepts being taught in your courses. Tutors will not help you do entire homework sets assigned by your instructor, but they will give you help on a few select problems.

You are welcome to come as many hours as you wish to receive help. Tutoring really does help! A student who attends the math center regularly has a 60% higher chance of receiving a grade C or better in their math course. Many students have found tutoring to be extremely beneficial and return for more help with other mathematics courses.

The Mathematics department organizes two help rooms as places for students to seek assistance with material that comes up in their mathematics courses. These rooms are staffed by graduate students and undergraduate teaching assistants.

The Math Department operates the Lab Calculus, Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra, and Probability Help Rooms to provide assistance to students in these courses. Students are invited to drop by help rooms whenever they are open; no appointment is necessary. The help rooms are staffed by undergraduate and graduate Math Teaching Assistants hired by the Math department.

Severe Weather Policy : On campus Help Room operations are always cancelled while the Severe Weather Policy is activated (this does not apply to Help Rooms operating through Zoom, if any). If the ending of the Policy leaves two hours or less of Help Room operations that day, those remaining Help Room hours are also cancelled.

If you are experiencing difficulty with your math and/or science course(s), we are here to help. We always suggest visiting your math and science instructor during their office hours or emailing your instructor to set up an appointment. As a supplement, we provide additional math and physics resources to all RIT students.

If you are experiencing difficulty with a math and/or a science course, you can request a one-on-one Math and Science Assessment meeting with a content expert. During the meeting, we will discuss your history and current difficulties with math and/or science courses, and the results of the diagnostic exam. Together, we will develop a course of action to help you be more successful in your course. Some recommendations may include using better study strategies, utilizing study centers, and/or enrolling in one of the Academic Success Center courses, such as Critical Math Skills.

Before the meeting, you will complete a diagnostic exam to evaluate your knowledge. The diagnostic exam will be sent directly to you for you to complete, and your results should be emailed to the Academic Success Center. This information helps to ensure that your one-on-one Math and Science Assessment meeting is as productive as possible.
