This is a neat "light" Windows 95 sim that, had it been published by Maxis, would certainly be titled "SimResort" As an Entrepreneur who's just been given the right to develop a virgin island, commercialize it to death with beach resorts, camping grounds, and other structures.
This is not SimIsle, so you don't have to worry about damaging the island's ecosystems ;) Great attention to detail-- you can even rent out deck chairs and umbrella. This game is an effort of a few talented designers that should have been spotted by big-name publisher (like SimTower before it).
Holiday Island is in the style of Sim City, but instead of building a town you have to fill up some Carribean Isles to create the ideal holiday location. There are more than 60 different buildings to choose from - hotels, bars, car rentals, sport facilities, parks, discos and many more. You are facing several rivals, and can play dirty tricks on them to inhibit their progressYou can start an endless game or play one of the 6 scenarios, each with a different goal. The backing MIDI music is Carribean-themed - Reggae and samba.
Prepare yourself for a trip to a beautiful tropical island. But you're not here to enjoy swimming, to bask or watch pretty girls in bikini, your job is to make this little island everyone's paradise.
There is no "campaign" in this game, you can play several scenarios (with not so interesting content) or start endless game (well, it has an end, it's when you win or lose :P). There are a lot of varieties you can choose like difficulty, island shape, number of opponents to play against and some more.
When you start there are empty island(s), look around and pick a spot to start building. Anyone who played any title from SimCity series will have no trouble in finding a way around. There are two groups of icons, "building icons" and "other icons". 12 different building icons are divided by their intent, so you have Houses, Sports, Shops, Energy and other. Each of these groups has several buildings in it which give a number of about 60 buildings in total. Every building has it's expensive and profits, by color of the line that is around buildings you can see which buildings are profitable(green) and which are not(red).

Ever wanted to create your own holiday island? Well, here is your chance. You can build almost every imaginable thing regarding a holiday island right from small benches to large buildings. You even have to put different security things to provide safety for your future visitors.
A great simcity look-a-like. The difference with this game and simcity is that this is about building the best holiday island. Insert facilities on you island and small houses, hotels and more. You can also build vehicle rent shops and more entertaining facilities like tennis courts and more. One of my favourite sims. The main idea is that you eventually have a big island with all kinds of holiday facilities and lots of visitors. Make your island(s) the best and you make loads of money to improve it. A bit difficult and it needs lots of training, but one of the best games I've ever seen. Graphics are great, sounds are ok, gameplay is good and the addictivity level was enormous in my opinion.

The Good
I enjoy the sim-city style games, and this one has been a favorite of mine since the mid '90's. It's fun formatting the islands to get them in the shapes you want (using the money cheat), and challenging to get the sims to move into the places you create for them.
The Bad
I have the "abandonware" version. One time (only once) I managed to get the auctions to come up, but then the game hung on one day. I still haven't found a users manual for it yet.
The Bottom Line
There are some things I have learned, though. DELETE key spins the map. To save your game, choose save, then type the name and press ENTER.

Get ready to travel to a sunny paradise, where you will lie on the beach, enjoy the sun, enjoy the view of the beautiful girls and swim in the clear sea. How does such a paradise arise on a tropical island? Simply put - you have to build it. Holiday Island is a beautiful building strategy based on the same principle as, for example, the famous SimCity series. In this game, you are building a holiday paradise for tourists. You start classically with a pristine island, where there is nothing that would attract typical tourists. If you have already played SimCity or another building strategy, you will find your way around very quickly and you will know what needs to be done. You start by building roads around which to build a holiday resort. You have to pay attention to the location of buildings, which you can choose from a very wide range - over 60 types (hotels, bars, rentals, parks, discos, sports centers and various others). However, it will not be so easy, because you are not the only one who wants to attract tourists to your resort. You also have opponents with whom you fight for the favor of holidaymakers and you can also use various insidious tricks to attract tourists or slow them down in their construction. This is one of the most fun building strategies of the mid-90s.

I told him I would talk to our directors, and they were very enthusiastic at being the first bank there. When our bank was dedicated at 2 Stateline Drive, not towing in a mobile home, but building a nice permanent structure by contractor Wayne Johnson, with drive up windows, etc., the lawsuits went away and things calmed down considerably.
Not sure why the rating is so high, but I was already out before I made it to the island.
There are much better stories with a lot lower ratings. Makes me wonder if I can trust the review scores.
That fantastic Dead Island video - which shows a reverse-time account of a young girl on a tropical holiday island being torn away from her parents, become a zombie and eventually be flung out of a window - has sent ripples across Hollywood.
The whole game happens in an island full of lusty and lewd girls with giant boobs. You win the ticket for staying in this island and enjoying the girls. As you have known already, there is quite a lot of sex scenes in the game but you have to play for them.
This is a 3D game with lots of beautiful characters and backgrounds. The island is designed beautifully and you will enjoy the backgrounds. There are so many details in the game and the developer has spent so much time creating them.
The Old Whaling Church was filled with harmonies this week as the 115-member Island Community Chorus practiced for its annual holiday concert, which takes place Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. This year's program features lighter fare than previous concerts, including a bouncy arrangement of Jingle Bells.
REUTERS - Riots raged in several Greek cities on Sunday after police shot dead a teenage boy in the capital Athens, in the Mediterranean nation's worst civil disturbances in years.
The rioting began in Athens late on Saturday soon after the shooting in the central Exarchia district, where youths threw petrol bombs at police, burned dozens of cars and smashed shop windows. It quickly spread to Greece's second largest city of Thessaloniki and other towns in northern Greece.
Cities on the holiday islands of Crete and Corfu also saw protests at the shooting, which prompted Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos to offer his resignation. Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis, whose fragile government has been rocked by a series of scandals, rejected it, a ministry spokeswoman said.
"On behalf of the government and the prime minister, I express sorrow for the incident and especially the death of the young boy," Pavlopoulos said in a statement.
"An investigation to clarify the incident has already begun ... There will be an exemplary punishment and, above all, measures will be taken so that this will never be repeated."
Two police officers were arrested and being questioned over the incident, according to a police statement.
The officers said their patrol car had been attacked by 30 youths throwing stones and other objects. When they attempted to arrest the youths, they were attacked again and one of the officers fired three shots, killing the boy, the statement said.
It was the first time since 1985 that police have killed a minor in Greece, a police spokesman said. A hospital official, who asked not to be identified, said the boy was 15 years old.
"Murderers in uniforms!" chanted hundreds of protesters who marched on the Athens police headquarters, where the two policemen were being held.
Plumes of black smoke rose into the night sky as overturned cars burned in Exarchia, a regular flash-point of trouble between police and gangs of self-proclaimed anarchists.
Police fired tear gas to disperse the youths, many of whom wore black hoods. Restaurants closed their shutters early and at least two police officers were injured in the rioting.
A group calling itself the United Anti-Capitalist Left called a march for Monday in Athens against the killing. Karamanlis's centre-right government, which holds a slender one-seat majority in parliament, has faced a series of protests from unions and students.
In recent months, the Socialist opposition has taken the lead in opinion polls amid anger at public scandals and the government's handling of the economy. Many analysts say Karamanlis could be forced to call early elections next year.
