The MADRIX 5 Software makes it possible to control numerous LED fixtures; also of different kinds. Position them according to your needs in nearly any form or shape. Map pixel by pixel and achieve pixel-perfect results, even with the lowest of pixel resolutions. The result are crisp and sharp visuals on your LEDs.

MADRIX 5 provides a leading-edge feature set to fully control real 3D LED matrices. MADRIX 5 supports volume rendering (voxel mapping). This approach is fundamentally different to the 3D projections or the physical layout of 2D surface areas that are widely known nowadays. It makes your installation state-of-the-art.

MADRIX 5 features a state-of-the-art audio analysis. It can process any live audio signal and create stunning real-time lighting visuals. These live effects will create a light show that runs in sync with your music. And thanks to the integrated effects generator, you can also create many lighting patterns without audio input. On top, you can customize all visuals at an unprecedented level.

MADRIX 5 allows you to produce extraordinary live visuals. You don't need to invest a lot of time for programming. With MADRIX 5, you quickly create visuals and bring creative and diverse lighting effects to any LED installation. In addition, apply many advanced features you would not want to miss. Use layers of effects and media, quickly modify visuals via FX filters, combine effects via mix modes, control fixture-group intensities, and much more.

MADRIX 5 accommodates numerous ways to operate the software. The above mentioned industry standards for input, interoperability, remote control, and audio make a lot possible for simple setups, complex lighting systems, or any AV integration. Here are just a few examples that go beyond direct control via mouse and keyboard or remote control via a lighting console.

Cue Lists are automated playlists. The playback of effects and visuals can be precisely scheduled in hours, minutes, seconds, and frames. Time code can be received from Art-Net, MIDI, SMPTE, or taken from the system's time. Synchronize time and equipment across lighting systems and shows.

Timelines offer unprecedented possibilities to create light shows that sync to music. Based on time code and sequencing, you can trigger segments at exactly the right time and synchronize your lighting to audio, which is shown in waveforms. In this case, MADRIX 5 itself can become the time-code sender.

The library already includes a large variety of fixture profiles. Use 1-channel, 2-channel, RGB, or RGBW fixtures, or any variant of these. Use the Fixture Editor for your own profiles. With MADRIX 5, it is easy to manage the wide range of fixtures, such as pars, tiles, tubes, tape, curtains, video screens, and more. Combine DMX-based and DVI-based LED products as needed, use different fixture types in the same setup, and control the whole installation or only parts of it. With MADRIX 5, you are in control.

In addition, the software includes a full range of helpful and productive tools. This includes the Fixture Editor, but also the Art-Net Time Code Sender. There is also the Logfile, Preview Benchmark, and MADRIX Device Updater, as well as tools for restore and quick support. You can also use the DMX Fader Tool for single channel control or the Task Watcher, MIDI Watcher, and DMX Watcher for performance and data monitoring.

I've worked on a number of permanent large scale (80,000+ LED) projects that were 3D mapped and driven using custom control software written in C++ that I was contracted to write. We had to develop our own software for these projects as there wasn't anything off the shelf that could achieve the control and types of effects we required.

It's left me wondering if there's room in the market for another lighting control software package containing features along the lines of Madrix and ELM (mapping). Something that has powerful and high-performance 2D and true 3D mapping and pattern generation (volumetric/spatial). As well as a decent 3D fixture editor.

For this example, we want to use the Numark NuVJ Controller. You can find a list of all preprogrammed MIDI controllers here
Note: If your MIDI controller is on the list, please have a look at this tutorial Creating A New MIDI Map For A MIDI Controller

Now, the Device Manager with an active the MIDI tab will be opened.
You can see all detected MIDI controllers in the Device list. If not, click the Search button.
Note: In this example, we are using a Numark NuVJ Controller. You can see the name of the connected controller in the Device list.

The device is still deactivated (Off; red light). We have to enable the MIDI controller and make it available for MIDI Remote. Therefore, select the device in the Device list, activate the Enable checkbox as well as the Remote checkbox on the right-hand side of the Device Manager.

MADRIX will now interpret the input MIDI commands. But we will have to assign the correct MIDI controller configuration (MIDI Map). Go to the Remote Control section and click on the arrow on the right-hand side of the Edit field. In the drop-down menu, search for and select the connected MIDI controller. For this example, we will select Numark NuVJ

Now you can control MADRIX with the MIDI controller. If you want to change the assignment of keys of the controller, have a look to this tutorial Changing The Predefined MIDI Map Of A MIDI Controller

EnvironmentalLights.com, an online retailer for energy-efficient LED lighting systems, was recently named a licensed distributor of MADRIX LED lighting control solutions. In addition to the software, the company offers a variety of DMX controllers including the Madrix Plexus DMX controller. The Plexus DMX controller is packaged with the Madrix software, the company says, for an out-of-the-box solution for creating incredible lighting effects.

When paired with RGB pixel control LED lighting and decoders, lighting professionals have a solution for designing large LED digital displays at concerts, nightclubs, film studios, or architectural installations. EnvironmentalLights.com offers a full line of LED pixel control modules available in seven configurations: square, bullet, circle, dome, mini dome, rectangle, and strip light.

"The Madrix Plexus is a revolutionary DMX controller," explained Lauren Rueda, product engineer at EnvironmentalLights.com. "It enables the user to control two universes of lights -- up to 340 pixels -- and multiple Plexus devices can be combined together to create unlimited shows."

Individually each Plexus controller is capable of controlling two universes. However, multiple Plexus controllers can be connected to expand an installation to over a million DMX universes. The company says this is possible because of the master-slave feature which allows the user to connect multiple devices and seamlessly synchronize large LED installations in stand-alone mode across all DMX universes.

The user can create effects via DMX512 or Art-Net, and choose if they want to control the lighting live from a computer or pre-program custom scenes and store them in the Plexus controller for stand-alone mode. The Plexus controller is the only interface to offer stand-alone playback of Madrix light shows and effects.

"For large scenes you can control the PLEXUS using Art-Net which transmits data over Ethernet rather than USB cables," said Rueda. "If you're operating in Art-Net mode you don't have to worry about having everything connected to the computer you are controlling from, you just need to plug all the devices into your local area network."

In addition to the multiple controller settings, there is a free Plexus Remote App available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. This App allows you to control the Plexus remotely, giving you wireless control of your scenes and brightness or speed settings.

EnvironmentalLights.com provides complimentary engineering and design assistance, along with the compatible parts needed to build a complete LED digital display, from the LED modules and controllers to the smallest accessories.
