Hello All!

My name is Audra and I work in career services at URI, specifically supporting our environmental and life science area. There are two opportunities that may support your work:

  1. Environmental and Life Science Career Fair on February 5th 1pm-4pm at URI Kingston campus. This is a job and internship fair for students to attend. It is open to all students, and mostly attended by our environmental and life science majors, typically engaging 200-300 students. Cost is $250 for business and $150 for nonprofits. Fee waivers are available for nonprofits in need that have summer positions available (internship, part time job, full time job). You can reach out directly to me to request a fee waiver audr...@uri.edu. Audra Lavoie is the contact for this opportunity.
  2. CELS Summer Research Fellowship is currently accepting mentor site requests. Please submit the Fellowship Mentor Application (click link for full program details and application) by Friday, January 23, 2026. The CELS Summer Research Fellowship Program provides URI undergraduate students with opportunities to participate in ongoing research, education, or public outreach programs designed to address current environmental and/or societal issues.  Students receive ongoing professional development and a course that teaches them how to communicate their work, ending in a fellowship symposium. The Summer portion of the Fellowship runs for 10 weeks, from May 18-July 24, 2026. The summer portion is when the student is conducting their work with the host mentor and organization. Many host mentors and organizations will select to continue to host the student through the summer and possibly into the fall.                                                                                                                                                                                We ask that if you are interested in hosting a Fellow, to please consider full funding of the fellow, which will receive priority placement. Partial and non-funded opportunities will also receive consideration but are not guaranteed.  The fellowship pay scale is available to reference for full details of costs.  Sarah Puckett, URI CELS Undergraduate Research & Experiential Learning Coordinator is the contact for this opportunity sarah_...@uri.edu

Happy New Year!
