Plant ID in the classroom: Techniques of identification
May 30, 2026, 9:00 to 12:00
URI Greenhouse, Kingston, RI

Join botanist Beth Dickson for a workshop on how to key wildflowers using Newcomb's and GoBotany. Bring a copy of Newcomb's Wildflower Guide if you have one, a hand lens, and your cell phone, tablet or laptop. We'll be working side-by-side in a classroom in the URI greenhouse. This has the advantage over being in the field of allowing us to key out lots of wildflowers -- rain or shine, and tick free. We will also learn about the Mystery Plant challenge on the RIWPS Among-RI-Wildflowers website. Members $20.00, non-members $30.00. Register online at https://riwps.org/exploring-natives/
