RI‑NEST’s Summer High School Opportunities for Research Experience (SHORE) pairs RI students with Rhode Island College researchers for five weeks of hands-on STEM research & discovery. Fellows spend 20 hours/week working alongside scientific mentors, building technical and professional skills, exploring STEM career pathways, and connecting with RI’s research community. 

The program runs June 26–July 31, 2026. To reduce barriers, SHORE provides a transportation-support payment at the start of the program, plus a stipend upon successful completion. Youth must be 16+ and currently enrolled in high school at the program start.

Applications are open now through April 21, 2026—encourage your students to apply ASAP and start their STEM journey this summer.
