Dear Prospective Board Member,
Movement Education Outdoors (MEO) is currently identifying prospective candidates for its Board of Directors. MEO is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2018 and operating on Narragansett, Pokanoket, Nipmuc, and Wampanoag land.
Our mission is to empower youth throughout Rhode Island through transformative outdoor experiences that center BIPOC joy, community, and knowledge. We focus on removing systemic barriers to access, ensuring that youth of color and young people with limited economic resources have meaningful opportunities to experience wellness in nature. Through this work, we cultivate future leaders who are grounded in environmental stewardship, community care, and justice.
Service on the MEO Board requires a demonstrated commitment to our mission and a willingness to actively contribute time, expertise, and leadership. Board members are expected to support the Executive Director through fundraising efforts, human resources guidance, strategic planning, and other organizational needs as they arise. The Board meets monthly for up to two hours, and members serve a two-year term.
We are seeking individuals whose professional experience, lived perspective, and values align with MEO’s work, and who are interested in playing a meaningful role in advancing organizational sustainability and impact. This opportunity is best suited for those prepared to engage thoughtfully, responsibly, and collaboratively in service of our youth and communities.
If you believe your skills and capacity align with this role and you are interested in being considered, please reply to this email or contact us directly at in...@meoutdoorsri.com for additional information.
Thank you for your consideration and for your interest in supporting Movement Education Outdoors.
Sincerely,
The MEO Team
