Hi RIEEA colleagues,
I wanted to share a follow‑up email and resources from a recent Ask an Evaluator session hosted by Community Science (see message below).
Community Science has consistently been a fantastic resource for evaluation and community science more broadly, and I’ve been especially struck by how generous they are with their time, knowledge, and pro bono technical assistance, particularly in support of the social and nonprofit sector.
The attached materials include:
If you’re grappling with evaluation design, learning frameworks, or values‑aligned measurement, or if you’re supporting communities and organizations that are, this may be especially useful.
Many thanks to Jasmine Williams‑Washington and Kien Lee for continuing to offer these open, accessible learning spaces.
Warmly,
Jen

Subject: [EXTERNAL] April Ask an Evaluator Follow-Up & Resources
Hi everyone,
Thank you for spending time with us today during Ask an Evaluator. I appreciated the conversation and the questions you brought forward. They reflected the real challenges organizations face when trying to make sense of their work and measure what matters.
I also want to acknowledge that I was not at my best today. I appreciate your presence and engagement, and I apologize for not showing up in the way I expect of myself in these spaces.
As promised, I’m sharing a few resources from today’s session as attachments to this email:
Slide Deck from Today’s Session
You can revisit the key concepts and examples we walked through.
Measurement Framework Template
This template is designed to help you identify what to track, why it matters, and how it connects to your broader goals. It is meant to support learning and decision-making, not just reporting. Start small and focus on what is most useful and feasible.
Additional Resources
I am also including a blog and a supplemental panel discussion that connect to today’s conversation:
These resources explore how storytelling can be used not just as a method, but as a relational and ethical practice in evaluation.
Schedule a Pro Bono TA Session
If you want to talk through how this applies to your organization, you can schedule a
45-minute follow-up conversation here.
Next Ask an Evaluator Session
Our next session is scheduled for May 1st. The
registration link will remain the same, although the session details have not yet been updated. Please feel free to mark your calendar.
Quick Feedback + Future Topics
We want to make sure these sessions are as useful as possible. Please take a minute to share what topics you would like us to cover in future sessions by
clicking here.
Thank you again for being part of the space.
