Dear Friends,

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the healing power of the wild weeds exist all around us? I find this topic fascinating, and last Saturday, I attended a Medicinal Plant Walk in a park in East Providence led by clinical herbalist Ava Long.

This month on the Story Walking Radio Hour, I introduce listeners to Ava, and we talk about Discovering Plants with Healing Powers.

Ava shares her story about how she learned about herbs, decided to pursue herbal studies and start her botanical practice. We share Scullcap (bumblebee weed) as a seasonal example. We also discuss the connection between soil health, plant health and gut health. This episode also delves into the science of Live Blood Microscopy and why Ava uses this assessment tool in her practice.

We are constantly being exposed to numerous environmental toxins, and Ava specializes in detoxing using herbal protocols. It's all so interesting, and I invite you to listen.

If you are interested in further exploration of the topic of medicinal herbs, I recommend A Kid's Herb Book for children of all ages by Lesley Tierra. It covers plant identification, herbalism history, time-honored healing traditions and medicinal practice through songs, stories, illustrations, recipes and projects. It's like a real life Hogwarts education.

Summer Fun!
