Hi All,
We are pleased to announce that another round of funding is open for Resource Recovery’s Transportation Grant Program. This grant program was created to support Rhode Island K–12 schools with the cost of busing to attend a full facility tour of our operations in Johnston.
These free tours give students a firsthand look at how recyclable materials are sorted at the Materials Recycling Facility and how waste is managed at the Central Landfill, while providing a deeper understanding of their role in responsible waste management. The experience also enhances classroom learning in science, civics, sustainability, and career exploration. Learn more about tours at: www.rirrc.org/tours
There is roughly $9,500 remaining for FY26 grant funding. Grant applications are due by Friday, December 19th, for tentative Board review in January.
Given the approval timeline, the earliest tour date we will be able to schedule through this grant program is Monday, March 9th. Please consider this when filling out your application.
Full details, including the downloadable Grant Policy and Grant Application, are available here: Website (https://rirrc.org/education-program-support/transportation-grant-program).
Please contact us at prog...@rirrc.org with any questions.
Best,
Madison
