For your viewing pleasure, we would like to present to you this schedule of events for this year's BirdFest & Bluegrass Celebration!

Sandhill Crane Tours on River S Unit:
Saturday, 6:00am and 5:00pm
Sunday, 6:00am and 5:00pm
This is a once in a lifetime chance to hear and see the magnificent flight of hundreds of sandhill cranes as they visit their night roost. Join expert staff to learn about cranes and wildlife. Registration Required.

Spotting Scopes with Vancouver Audubon Society overlooking wetlands of the Hunt Zone
 
11AM-12PM & 1PM-2PM @ Carty Unit, Carty Milk House Porch
Beginning Watercolor Workshop- Registration Required
 
10AM-4PM @ Cathlapotle Plankhouse, Carty Unit

– Opening Ceremony with Traveling Day Society

– Scavenger Hunt by Friends of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge
– Family Zone Activities:
* Make your own Bluegrass band instruments & perform.
* Make your own birdfeeder and nature journal.
* Participate in bird & wildlife inspired games & crafts.

25+ artisans with nature-inspired items for sale.
 
10:30 AM & 1:30 PM Kayak Tours @ Ridgefield Kayak
Guided 2.5 mile tour on Lake River, instruction on basic strokes, wildlife viewing and information provided by staff of the RNWR. Register for “Ridgefield Birdfest Bluegrass Paddle” on aldercreek.com

Estuary Partnership Big Canoe – Join the Estuary Partnership for a family-friendly canoe paddle through the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. Participants paddle 14-passenger 29′ canoes to experience Lake River from a unique on-water perspective. Estuary Partnership staff will be on each canoe to steer, offer paddling advice, and share information about the river and surrounding ecosystem. Registration required, link coming soon.
