Fellow Bike Riders,
One last reminder:
The Ride of Silence is tomorrow, May 19, 2010. Please meet downtown
Harbor Springs at the Harbormaster parking lot, 250 E. Bay St. at 6:30
for sign in and pre-ride instruction. The route is approximately 8.5
miles long within Harbor Springs and areas just West of town. The ride
will begin promptly at 7:00pm worldwide and Harbor Springs will be one
of over 30 locations in Michigan!
The Ride of Silence is completely unique for 3 reasons:
FACT: it is the only event that takes place world wide.
FACT: it is the only event held on the same day, at the same time
world wide.
FACT: the ride is a free event, put on by volunteers, without a single
corporate sponsor.
These facts show this event is purely driven by passion from people
who care about what is happening to their local community,
coordinating with the rest of the globe to attain a larger voice...and
not only is it FREE to participate, there will also be FREE Ride of
Silence T-Shirts for the first 75 riders. Thanks to generous donors,
we are able to offer these shirts at no cost to you, the riders. The
shirts are brightly colored so that we will all be easily seen to
increase our impact and will show our unity in honoring fallen
cyclists and reminding motorists to share the road.
A few last point for everyone: The ride will be slow-paced (no faster
than 12mph/20kph) - We will ride in Silence in honor of those that are
no longer with us - All riders must wear a helmet, NO Exceptions - We
will ride on the roadway, as far to the right as safely possible, no
more than two abreast.
I am honored and looking forward to riding with each of you tomorrow.
