I am happy to share all of the Cricut Design Space fix information I discovered. Since Cricut Design Space is a software program, often when there is an update to update one thing it will end up breaking something else.

Why is this? Because the programmers at Cricut cannot possibly test their software for every combination of devices and operating systems out there. Plus we all have different programs and applications on our devices that might block something Design Space is trying to do.

Sometimes the Cricut Design Space fix is an easy one, such as you cannot get past the Cricut Design Space login page. Here are some of the first things to try any time that Cricut Design Space is not working.

In July 2024 I experienced an issue where when I tried to open up Design Space it would just continually open up a new tab, instead of the project I was trying to open. I had to delete the Design Space software from my computer and then re-install it from the Cricut website.

With the February 2021 update that was done to Cricut Design Space some users, including myself, were having trouble opening anything in Design Space. This included formerly created and saved projects. Cricut put out a statement with a fix for this that you can read HERE.

The Cricut Design Space fix for this problem is Clearing Application Cache. I had no idea how to do this myself, but I found the directions from Cricut very easy to follow. Please click HERE to read and follow the directions from Cricut.

Some Cricut users are asking if clearing the application cache for Cricut Design Space cause them to lose any fonts that they have from sites like DaFont. The answer to this is no, you will not lose your fonts.

Any fonts that you downloaded and installed from sites like DaFont are installed on the device you are working with, whether that is your computer, iPad or phone. They are a part of that operating system and are not stored in Design Space. This is why they show up under System Fonts when you open Design Space.

Another question is will I lose my images and svg files that I have uploaded to Design Space by clearing the application cache. The answer to that is no, you will not. This is because when you upload an image or a svg to Design Space you save it to the cloud. The cloud is on the Cricut server so once you are back in Design Space you will be able to access them again.

In Cricut Design Space next to fonts and images you may have seen an option that says Download. If you have downloaded an image or a font in this manner, you will not lose it. Cricut Design Space is a program and when you download images or fonts they are not saved to your computer. Downloading them just makes them available for you to access if you are working with Design Space offline.

Here is a great example of working with Cricut Design Space offline. Pretend you are going on a long trip and will not have internet connect while traveling, maybe while you are on the airplane. If you download all of the images and fonts you know you will need for designing a project before getting on the plane, you will be able to use them to create projects while you are on the plane.

You will know you are working offline in Design Space because you will see the word Offline in the upper left corner of the screen. The only thing you cannot do while offline is upload images and fonts that are not already in your Design Space account.

What about saved projects, will I lose those? Once again, the answer is no. Your saved projects are also saved to the cloud so they are nice and safe on the Cricut server. If you go into Settings, you can bypass this. You would have to change the default settings to computer only. So unless you know you have done that, you are safe and you will not lose your projects.

In early 2024, some users began to notice that if you used the Contour button to remove sections of your design, as I do when I create layers, the overally bounding box around the design will stay large. It is as if the software is holding on to the memory of how big the image used to be. This can be a problem if you are using Contour to take pieces out of a design and make the pieces small enough to fix on a standard cutting mat.

What is the Cricut Design Space fix for this issue? Luckily, some users have found that just switching to the Beta version of the software will resolve this issue. If you have never switched between the live and beta version of Design Space before, you will need to go under your Settings to do that. I do have a video that shows where to find your Settings HERE.

If your Cricut does not seem to be cutting any material, and you have already tried the options listed here, or if it is only cutting half of the design you might wan tto check the bearing to see if it has dropped. If you need an example of what this would look like you can see what another Cricut owner did HERE.

Because so many people have asked me how I figure out all of these different Cricut Design Space fix or tricks I wanted to share something with all of you. I am self taught in several computer software programs, and have even become a trainer on some of those programs in my career.

I have had several managers tell me that my unique gift is that I have the ability to make difficult or technical information very easy for people to understand. Somehow when I explain things to people I feel like I will actually see the moment when the information clicks with them. It is like I can see the light bulb turn on!

You can also see that I love helping people. I think we should spend more time having fun crafting than trying to figure out how to use a software program! This is why I break everything I know into easy to follow steps. And because I have written down the steps, added screen shots and videos, you will know that you have the best resources for learning.

I also use a lot of analogies in my tutorials. If I can relate something in the Cricut Design Space software to an every day situation or something most people would encounter in every day life, I feel that helps people to learn. One great example of this is how I compare Cricut Access to Netflix.

So if you feel like you are always struggling with Cricut Design Space and wish there was one place you could go to learn how to use all of the buttons and features so you could spend your time just enjoying crafting then you should check out my Teach Me Cricut Design Space Online Course. This course is like having a direct line to my brain and downloading all of the information I know about using Cricut Design Space!

I have to start off with a shout out to the moderators in my Teach Me Cricut Design Space Facebook group. They are really good at listening to other Cricut owners to help me find out about the most recent updates to Cricut Design Space and helping me play detective to find the Cricut Design Space fix for those issue.

The bad news is that there is not always a Cricut Design Space fix for every issue. Sometimes there is just a computer software glitch that happens. I feel like the two most current items fall into that category. What you can do is to contact Cricut Support and let them know about the issues. The more people that report issues with the software typically will make fixing the issue a higher priority.

One of the current known issues is that when working with the Explore Air 2, when you go to choose your material on the desktop version of Design Space, the Browse All Materials to get to your custom settings is not showing up. It does seem to be working and available when you are working from the Design Space app on your phone. So my Cricut Design Space fix for this issue is that if you design the project on the computer, save it to the cloud and then cut it from your phone.

The Print then Cut feature is also having some issues. Many users are reporting that their cuts are off and there is white showing around their designs even when they leave the bleed on. I do have a full page devoted just to Print then Cut troubleshooting HERE, but that article focuses more on mistakes that Cricut owners make that impact their Print then Cut projects. This current issue seems to be more with the so software, since users are reporting that they have re-calibrated their machine but the cuts are still off. This would be one of those times when I would have to say that there is not a Cricut Design Space fix for this issue.

When using the mobile app, some Cricut owners are seeing a glitch were the whole image will be sent to one cutting mat, even when they have the colors separated into layers correctly. Some users have found that if you go back to the Canvas page and ungroup the image before you hit Make It. It seems that this then allows the different colors to go to different mats.

Sometimes you get the Cricut Design Space errors and issues, and other times they seem to pass right over some people. This was one that hit me personally. When I clicked Make It on a project I got the following error message.

So I went through the normal Cricut Design Space fix troubleshooting list of closing the program and reopening it. That did not resolve it. Then I went under settings and switched from Beta to Live and just like magic, everything was working again!

Have you played with the new Warp Text feature in Cricut Design Space? Some users have found that it will create the warp look in Design Space, but when you click Make It to actually cut out the design, it cuts the letters out in a straight line. Currently there is no fix for this from Cricut. I did spend some time playing around with something, and I did figure out a work around. I did a video for it HERE.

I did an entire article, which you can find HERE, that is specifically about Cricut Print then Cut issues. I give you some tips and tricks on how to troubleshoot the issues, while also teaching you a little bit about how the Print then Cut feature works. If you found this page and are experiencing issues specifically related to a Cricut Print then Cut project, click HERE.
