Peace fellow database and webinars connect members and alumni |
The Rotary Peace Fellowship Alumni Association wants to further connect the Rotary family by offering online programming to share some of their work and the peacebuilding skills they’ve acquired through the fellowship. Recognizing that Rotarians may not be meeting in person for some time, the alumni association has created a database of peace fellows who can conduct interactive talks and webinars and lead virtual town hall discussions for your members. Learn more about the presenters and find instructions on using the database.
Additionally, the alumni association has organized a series of interactive webinars for peace fellows, Rotarians, and the general public. Join a future webinar and watch recordings of these past sessions:

Honoring the people who inspire peace fellows
|
Erika Isabel Yague (UQ 2019-20) has been awarded the first Janet Lawrence Peace Award and a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of her service and commitment to her classmates and community. The Janet Lawrence Peace Award in particular honors a fellow from the current graduating class who embodies the values of Service Above Self, volunteering, and proactive leadership. “As Rotary Peace Fellows, we find inspiration when we take time to remember and recognize the people who support and motivate us in our work of pursuing a sustainable peace,” Erika recently wrote.

Positive Peace and the pandemic
|
How can communities become more resilient and recover from shocks such as the coronavirus outbreak? The Positive Peace framework provides helpful insights. For Lorelei Higgins (Chula, 2019), her training as a Rotary Positive Peace Activator shaped her approach to work as the Community Connections lead for the city of Calgary’s Emergency Response Team, Alberta, Canada. She sees a natural alignment with the pillars of Positive Peace and the local pandemic response.
