Title:
Lessons Learned While Building a Software Company: How a Senior
Comp Became a Business
Abstract:
For many Allegheny students, completing a senior comp is the end
of a journey. For Jeffery Payne, it turned out to only be the
beginning. Join Jeffery as he discusses how his Allegheny senior
comp became a successful software company and what lessons he
learned along the way. Learn firsthand about the rise, fall, and
rise of Cigital, Inc. (formerly Reliable Software Technologies)
and how such economic and world tragedies as the Dot Com crash
and 9/11 impacted the business world and his company. Hear why
raising $5M in venture capital funding would ultimately drive him
to give it all up in the end and begin anew as a start-up 3 years
ago. Attend this talk and take home practical lessons learned
while building a software company based upon a senior comp.
