Research in Computer Science Seminar (RICSS). RICSS will co-host
a research presentation by Dr. Lisa Michaud, a faculty candidate
who is interviewing with the Department of Computer Science.
Please pass this invitation on to other students, faculty members,
and staff that would be interested in attending the upcoming talk.

A Computational Environment for Language Acquisition: King Alfred
Students can study Anglo-Saxon (Old) English with the help of
King Alfred, a tutoring environment that applies the benefits of
a computational environment to the age-old task of translating
phrases from an ancient language. King Alfred efficiently models
the feature-rich source language and tracks the user's successes
and failures in order to provide feedback, guiding
self-reflection and further study. Ongoing work explores how
King Alfred can effectively give feedback to specific
translation errors through a pedagogically-motivated automated
analysis.
All are welcome to attend!
