would be interested in attending the upcoming talk.

Date: Friday, October 2, 2009
Location: Campus Center Room 302
Time: 12:15 - 1:15

Presenters:

Radu Creanga and Robert S. Roos
Department of Computer Science
Allegheny College

Title:

Points of Interest Along the Santa Fe Ant Trail

Abstract:

Genetic Programming (GP) is a technique for evolving populations
of computer programs using principles of natural selection. One
famous benchmark of GP performance involves finding a program to
control an artificial ant to maximize its food-gathering
abilities within a fixed domain. Grammatical Evolution (GE) is a
form of grammar-based genetic programming. Our primary interest
in GE lies in the realm of generative and developmental
systems. Since GE is based on grammars we are hoping to use a
grammatical structure called an L-system to develop techniques
that will allow us to generalize solutions to ant problems to
make them scale to domains of many different sizes.

All are welcome to attend!
