April Green Drinks: Join the conversation (or keep it going, as it were) after the Virginia Go Green Forum with the jury: Frank Harmon, FAIA, Gail Lindsey, FAIA, Tim Martin, PE, Isaac Panzarella, PE , and Dave Swanson, ASLA. We'll try to to convince them to stick around for a while before their trek back to Raleigh. You can check out the winning entries and share a beer or a pop with the winners, entrants, or, better yet, come if you can to the Forum as well. Its free and open to the public. There will be food enough for a graduate student dinner and a cash bar. Also, we're looking for a sponsor or two for the Green Drinks (this month and every month). Please contact me about benefits and years of good luck for sponsoring.
* Last month at the Camel was the free-for-all that we all love so well. Well attended and full of great discussion and ideas, please be sure to come again to The Camel in May (15th) for more of the same. Check out the piece about Big Lick Green Drinks in Salem. Be sure to check out to Ted Flato of LakeFlato Architects in San Antonio on Thursday, April 10. He's one of those green practitioners, like Frank Harmon, that has always been doing green design but left it off of his sleeve.
* What is Green Drinks? Every month people who work in building and environmental fields meet up for a beer at these informal sessions. It's a great way of catching up with people you know and also for making new contacts. These events are very simple and unstructured, but many people have found employment, made friends, developed new ideas, done deals and had moments of serendipity. Look for our website at the international organization - greendinks.org.
