Love Your Block 2012 Awards Deadline: 

Love your block?  Show it!  Citizens Committee for New York City and the Office of the Mayor invite your volunteer-led neighborhood group to apply for a Love Your Block Grant Award.  Grants of $500 to $1,000 are awarded for block improvements that can be used toward various neighborhood renovations, such as cleaning vacant lots, planting trees in empty tree beds, and removing graffiti.  In addition your group will have the opportunity to access specific city support that will help revitalize your block, including services from the Department of Transportation, Sanitation and Parks & Recreation.  Plus, Citizens Committee for New York City will assist your group with local media coverage of your event! The grant deadline is November 8, 2011. IMPORTANT NOTE: Submit your application before October 15 and receive feedback! Your group will be able to re-submit a revised application based on Citizens Committee's project planning assistance.

Have a great idea for a community improvement project? Apply for a New Yorkers for Better Neighborhoods (NYBN) Award! Citizens Committee for New York City awards grants of $500 to $3,000 to volunteer-led groups to work on projects that bring neighbors together and that have a positive impact on the community. We also offer project planning assistance and skills-building workshops. 
Recent awards have enabled neighbors to come together to make healthy food available in their communities, transform empty lots into community gardens, organize tenants to advocate effectively for better housing conditions, and start school recycling programs
