SENATOR ADDABBO WITH OTHER LOCAL ELECTEDS, BUSINESS & CIVIC LEADERS UNVEIL "WELCOME TO RICHMOND HILL" SIGN IN SOUTH ASIAN/WEST INDIAN/GUYANESE BUSINESS DISTRICT

WHO:          NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. (sponsor of  the event), other local electeds,
Romeo Hitlall, business and civic leader from South Richmond Hill and his family, with
members of the South Asian and West Indian (Guyanese) community, unveil  the newly
installed “Welcome to Richmond Hill” sign. The sign also says, “Richmond Hill is a
                  community filled with pride.”

WHAT:        The “Welcome to Richmond Hill” sign is an initiative of Mr. Hitlall’s, a process that was
several years in the making, requiring the help of Senator Addabbo, his staff, and
Queens Borough Parks Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski.  The site will be maintained by
Romeo Hitlall and family. The sign is newly installed on a NYC Parks Department triangle
located in the heavily trafficked South Richmond Hill business district. With this sign, Mr.
Hitlall wants “to pay tribute to the entrepreneurial spirit that drives the professional side of this
community, whose people are hard-working and progressive…driven by a business spirit of
entrepreneurship. There are a lot of well established, profitable businesses that keep the areal
vibrant. This is my way of saying ‘thank you’ to the residents and business owners of
Richmond Hill; it will put the West Indian and South Asian (Guyanese) community on the
map, to help them claim a piece of the American Dream. The sign will be a greeting to all
                  who enter Richmond Hill.”

WHERE:     Liberty Avenue and 133rd Street, South Richmond Hill

WHEN:       Monday,  November 72011 @ 2 PM

For more information, please contact either of Senator Addabbo’s district offices:  Howard Beach at 718-738-1111 or Middle Village at 718-497-1630.  Follow Addabbo on Facebook at ‘Senator Joe Addabbo’. Visit him online: http://addabbo.nysenate.gov.

JudyClose and other elected officials,

As per discussion, Richmond Hill Economic Development Council (RHEDC), now a 501C3 organization, is a partner with NYC Parks with its Daffodil Project. This site was also adopted by RHEDC since April 2011.

RHEDC planted many DAFFODILs at this site during October 2011.

RHEDC has also given Daffodils Bulbs t Merchants along Liberty Ave in its effort to make Liberty greener and more environmental friendly.

Looking forward to the recognition of RHEDC at the Press Briefing
