Hi all,

Since there has been some queries from staff and tutors about how the House Comms (HCs) are allocated, below is the rationale for how the current they are allocated to their current blocks. You might want to share this with your respective tutors if there is any questions asked regarding the allocation. Please be informed that their RLP stint block is NOT the first reason when we decide on their block allocation but instead operational needs come first due to various feedback from previous terms about House Comms being unavailable on their block training days.

Personally I see little importance in placing the HCs back to their block as they all been through RLP so the standard routines are similar across all 3 blocks. HCs from different blocks are often are able to bring different experiences/ideas to their new block so that the blocks may be able to have a wider pool of experiences to tap on. I will share more about this when I elaborate on the roles of the new Student Mentors (Yr 5 boarders) later in the term as we proceed the expand the term 1 Bayley only trial to all 3 blocks in Term 2. The SMs future placements will also follow a similar rationale to below.

1st Criteria

Any applicant with any activities (tuition/external lessons) in the late afternoon/evening will not be placed into the block with regular trainings on that day. This is to ensure that their training duties will not be affected as they could be back late from their activities and either lack time for meals or late for duty. HCs should also generally be available for any last minute duties required by Jamie or myself during their duty days.

Therefore, Shane (ex-Bayley) and Guanxin (ex-Moor) who both have activities on Tues and CCA ending at 7pm on Wed will be placed in Moor since their Thursdays are free which is the main training day for Moor.

Xian Qun (ex-Moor) has no CCA on Wed, priority given to place him in Buckley as Buckley training days are mainly Wed.

2nd Criteria

Applicants from Sports background has to be separated so that not all 3 HCs in 1 block comes from the same background due to sports season in Term 1.

Moor – Shane and Guan Xin from performing arts based CCA so 3rd HC will be from Sports – Isaiah ex-Moor placed in Moor

Buckley – Xian Qun from sports. Hao Duan (sports) and Jonathan Tay (UG) both ex-Buckley returned to Buckley

Bayley – Jonathan Leong and How Zhi both sports CCA and ex-Bayley returned to Bayley. Bryan the remaining non-sports applicant ex-Moor placed in Bayley.

Regards,
