I once had an HP printer and the print driver had the facility for taking an A4 document and expanding it to print over 4 or more sheets which, when trimmed and joined together, created a larger poster. Unfortunately, that printer died and the new printer driver does not have the same capabilities.
Hey I did the instructions below to get my printer to print poster size. It worked great for about a week and now my computer says the printer is offline and I have to reset my router to get it back online. That only lasts a day before I am having to do it again. When logging into HPinstantink it says my printer is online. Any help would be appreciated.
Just a general statement. I repair and build many computers and often recommend different printers etc. I can't believe you know longer have a print preview or poster printing. These were excellent features,. Needles to say I will never recommend another HP printer to any of my clients again!!

Elings Hall occupants can either connect back to another department's network, or directly to the CNSI network. If you have an office in Elings Hall, you can get an Internet connection for your laptop or desktop system. There is also campus wireless, so you can connect via wireless using your UCSBNetID. For a wired connection, see the information below and then see Paul Weakliem (room 3231). Also note the numbers on the wall plate you want to hook up to (e.g. 1.2.045/orange), or take a photo of it.
Note: If you hook a computer up to the network (whether a typical desktop/laptop computer, or one controlling an instrument) you are responsible for being familiar, and complying with, the appropriate policies (see related links).
Printing is available in a number of labs and offices, and there are a handful of public printers in the building. Instructions are below (you can only access from on campus, both the instructions, and the printers).
The poster printer is located in room 3204 Elings Hall and is open 8-5 Monday through Friday and 24 hour access is allowed for CNSI researchers. If you require access to the printer room outside of normal business hours, please submit an amended Elings Hall Access Form.
CNSI also has a Polycom HDX-8000 High Definition Videoconference system available to members. This system provides high quality images of both the participants and the computer presentations they are broadcasting on two 55" monitors. It is compatible with most other H323 videoconference systems, and even to PC's loaded with Polycom's PVX software.
Parking. The Department of Psychology pays for 2 parking spots in the Urban Life B Lot located at 140 Decatur Street. Priority for parking in these spots is for specific research populations (e.g., elderly, handicapped, or pregnant research participants), Psychology Clinic patients, and invited or guest speakers. All of these visitors requesting parking must be pre-approved by the Chair. The Chair might allow additional guests to use these spaces if vacant on a case-by-case basis. To coordinate other campus parking for visitors, see this website.
Poster Printing. Psychology faculty and psychology graduate students are able to reserve time to print a poster. Undergraduates and non-psychology graduate students and faculty must request permission to use the printer. As the ink and paper are extremely expensive, psychology requests that all posters use white (i.e., no ink) backgrounds and avoid any test printing.
For students or users who do not have their staff/faculty GSU email accounts, they will need to send the room reservation from their student or other email account to the email address listed in the table above.

If printing in the KIN 1057 computer lab use one of the two computers closest to the door at the end of the row closest to the printer. Create your poster in PowerPoint, save it as a 'PowerPoint Presentation' or as a 'PowerPoint Picture Presentation', and have it with you on a flash drive, on your email, or locally on the lab machine.
**Note: if you did not use the right click and 'insert image' option when building your poster but instead used 'drag and drop' the poster printer may not print those images. You will need to watch your poster as it prints to make sure the printer does not leave off any images, text, or backgrounds.
