While patrolling Karakura Town, Ichigo is informed about the invasion of Hueco Mundo by Wandenreich, a group of Quincies.[42] He goes to Hueco Mundo with his friends to liberate it from one of the Wandenreich's high-ranked officers Quilge Opie. Later, Ichigo finds out that the Quincies are attacking the Soul Society. Arriving just after Captain Commander Yamamoto's death, Ichigo encounters the Wandenreich's leader Yhwach.[43] During the fight against Yhwach that ends with a draw, Ichigo's Zanpakutō is shattered and Yhwach leaves the Soul Society.[44] Ichigo returns to the World of the Living, where he learns the truth that his mother was a pure-blood Quincy who was on a verge of hollowification after she was infected by White, Aizen's experimental Hollow. She was saved by Isshin at the cost of his Soul Reaper powers.[45] Ichigo later learns that entity he believed to be Zangetsu is actually the embodiment of his Quincy powers while his inner Hollow is the true Zangetsu. Despite this, Ichigo still accept him as he gains his reforged Zanpakutō in its new split Shikai form.[46] During the second invasion by the Wandenreich, Ichigo and his friends confront Yhwach at the Soul King's Palace. Ichigo gets overwhelmed, but Tsukishima and Orihime's combined efforts fixed his broken Tensa Zangetsu. Together with Uryū, Renji and Aizen, Ichigo defeats Yhwach.
Prior to this revelation, Ichigo had very little reason to actually fight Yhwach. Sure, Yhwach had attacked and destroyed the Soul Society, which Ichigo considers himself to be aligned with, and injured some of his friends, but he doesn't actually have a formal duty there. Yhwach's confusing parting words in Bleach, where he referred to Ichigo as a "son born in the dark," suggested there was some connection, as well as his knowledge of Ichigo's mother. With the reveal that Yhwach's actions directly led to Masaki's death, Ichigo now has a very personal reason to get involved here. Ichigo definitely held a grudge against Grand Fisher for killing his mother, but that was just a Hollow being a Hollow; now there's a person involved who deliberately chose to do this, and that must be met with vengeance.

Shortly afterward, another Shocker member, Bat Man, goes after Hongo. He implants a virus that transforms his victims into vampire-like creatures under his control. Ruriko is involved in the battle again, with the virus implanted in her blood, and, before she loses consciousness, Bat Man reveals to her that her father was killed for betraying Shocker. Hongo defeats Bat Man and cures his victims. Tobee Tachibana, from the Tachibana Racing Club, learns about what happened to Hongo and his battle against Shocker during these events and decides to support him. Meanwhile, Ruriko sees that Hongo wasn't the one who killed her father, and in fact, was fighting against the ones responsible for his death. The original Kamen Rider grabs onto Haetori Bachi's leg, falling and disappearing into the sea with it. The Shocker Rider celebrates the original Riders' death, proclaiming himself the only Kamen Rider now. The Shocker Rider attempts to destroy the data about the Gel Shocker Leader, but he's stopped by Ei Dokugar, a batoid/poisonous moth monster. He reveals there has been a change of plans, and Gel Shocker wants the information, while they should give a false device to the Anti-Shocker Alliance that would kill them all. Kazuya and Tachibana approach the battle's location and receive the false suitcase, while the Shocker Rider and Haetori Bachi act like they're fighting against each other. The Shocker Rider claims that the false Rider has been destroyed when a group of Gel Shocker Combatmen appears. He tells Tachibana and Kazuya to take the suitcase, while he'd stay behind and fight them off. The Gel Shocker Leader receives the Anti-Shocker Alliance data and tells General Black to analyze it to understand the scale of their organization. However, it turns out that they had obtained false data. The Gel Shocker Leader decides that the plan to destroy the Anti Shocker Alliance must be suspended and they should get the real tape first. The Shocker Rider, mimicking Hongo's voice, returns to the Anti-Shocker Alliance base, and warns them about the bomb in the device they had received. He tells them to leave the base and activates the bomb, although it does no damage to himself. Hayato Ichimonji arrives with the real data, but the Shocker Rider insists on getting it. Hayato wonders about that yellow muffler and soon he drops his guise and they fight. Ichimonji destroys the Shocker Cyclone, seemingly alongside the Shocker Rider and recovers the suitcase with the data. However, soon afterward, a Rider with a white scarf and Hongo's voice appears in the Rider Corps base. It was actually Shocker Rider No.2, alongside Ei Dokugar, who proceed to kidnap the children and women left in the base. Hongo returns and transformed into Kamen Rider, facing Ei Dokugar and Shocker Rider No. 2, but he's knocked out by the Shocker Rider and the hostages are taken away. Soon afterward, Hayato, Kazuya and Tachibana find a wounded Hongo. General Black contacts them, using the hostages to obtain the computer data in the hands of the Anti-Shocker Alliance. Seiichiro Kogure refuses to hand over the data to them, saying that they need to look at the bigger picture, but Chie Ishigami gives them the suitcase with the data device, asking them to carry on the revenge for her mother. Hongo recovers and goes alongside Hayato and Kazuya for the negotiations. They hand the suitcase to a helicopter via a rope ladder, but when Shocker refuses to give the hostages, Kazuya jumps and grabs on, climbing into the helicopter. Meanwhile, Shocker Riders Number 1 and Number 2 reappear, quickly followed by four others, Shocker Riders No.3, No.4, No.5 and No.6. Baron Kiba resurrects the Genshi Tiger, ancestor of all Fanged Beasts, and mother of the Fang Clan, Smilodon. Hongo tells Tachibana that after hearing about Baron Kiba's activities, he contacted Hayato in America and both returned to Japan. Meanwhile, Hayato attempts to search for Baron Kiba's hideout alone. Smilodon, taking the name Anekoji, visits the Rider Squad's base, and gives them a cursed doll. Hongo touches it and immediately falls due to the strong poison within. He is taken to a hospital, but the doctors were actually Destron agents that capture him. V3 soon falls before Smilodon's power. Hayato returns to meet Tachibana and the others, only to see a suspicious letter. Once it's open, poison is spilled out. However, he avoids it and notices Anekoji outside, pursuing her. He transforms into Kamen Rider 2 while chasing her on a custom fang bike, and soon she transforms too to reveal her real form as the Genshi Tiger. Smilodon uses a blast of fire that soon becomes an explosion, engulfing Kamen Rider 2, who is taken for dead. She returns to Baron Kiba's side and together they prepare to torture the captured Shiro Kazami and Takeshi Hongo. However, Hongo and Shiro had already recovered and were just playing along to get to Baron Kiba's hideout, however, they soon find themselves unable to transform in their cell. Meanwhile, Hayato was silently following Smilodon and frees the other two Riders. The 3 Riders together face Smilodon and Baron Kiba. Baron Kiba soon retreats, leaving Smilodon behind. Hongo, Shiro and Hayato transform to continue their fight with Smilodon. Kamen Riders 1 and 2 board their Cyclones, while V3 stands on top and they use their new Rider Triple Power charge attack, destroying Smilodon. While his body is being cremated, Hongo hears the cries of his niece and is later resurrected by his Typhoon absorbing huge amounts of energies from the flames of the pyre. He later heads to an old barn containing items left behind by Tachibana, and unveils the Neo Cyclone which Tachibana had created before his death. Rejoining Ghost and Specter in their battle, Rider 1 manages to even the odds, allowing the Riders to defeat Nova Shocker entirely. Hongo later leaves a fatally wounded Jigoku Taishi, sparing his old enemy from one last fight as the Shocker general dies from his wounds.
After Reiji returns from his fight with his best friend "Ryuichi" she tells him about her past with Vorspa and Reiji's parents. Ichigo explains the events of the war that between magi, how his parents met and fell in love, and how it was ended by the death of an evil magi named "Rouge Flame" at the hands of Sosei. After which she sets out to find Odin and challenges him to a battle in order to protect Reiji and the remaining magi, however Odin proved to be to powerful for her and she was defeated
After hearing those words Ichigo throws away her hat and cape ans states that the two of them are on parallel lines. Odin tells her that he has no desire to harm her but he will extinguish anyone who plans to disrupt this ritual. Calling Ichigo "Dog" he tells her that also applies to her. Ichigo becomes angry and tells Odin that the only one's allowed to call her that were her best friend SAKURA and partner Sosei and that they are both gone so he does not have the right to call her that. Since he is the mastermind behind this ritual, she will bet everything to stop him. Since he knows that Ichigo's ability is dangerous Odin invokes Eye Space. Ichigo tells Odin that he seems to have forgotten that whenever they fought in the past he could never beat her even once, Odin says that he is different from who he was back then and that his abilities transcend even God. Ichigo points out that even though she is not a magi, she is the strongest human and now has full control of her magical weapon. Odin knows that her magical weapon's power is "Endless Banish" and bids her to show him her power for he has never seen her truly serious and wishes to experience it. After a long stand off Ichigo charges at Odin, moving at a speed faster than he can react to and uses "Endless Banish" which turns Odin and his magical weapon to nothingness. Ichigo states that Odin drowned his heart in his own power and that is why he lost, however Odin speaks from the void, calling her splendid as he did not think she could return his existence to nothingness the way she did. A golden light flahes and Odin appars before he once again, he says that with a power like that Ichigo could have defeated "Rouge Flame" with ease and that she truly has surpassed all magi. Ichigo is shocked as to why Odin still exists after she literally erased his existence, Odin tells her that she did erase him but only for a brief moment. He speaks th name of his magical weapon: Das Rheingold (The Ordinal Night). Because of its ability Odin's body and existence is eternal (Or rather his existence will continue to revert back to one point infinitely). He has complete immortality and no matter how many times she erases his existence, he will revert back to one point for eternity. Ichigo understands that no matter how many times he is destroyed, his body will revert back to the way it is. Odin tells hr that since the moment that SAKURA died that he has been eternal, Ichigo tells him to not get carried away just because he is immortal and that she has other strategies to fight. Odin says that his ability is not complete immortality but rather it is "Gungnir" (God Spear of Creation), it gives him the ability to create four of the absolutes of th world and nothing can compare to him, not even her who is the strongest human "Yggdrasil". Ichigo takes a stance and tells him to say that after he defeats her and that she will send him to the abyss. She then uses Endless Banish on everything she sees, including the environment around Odin and turns it into a swallowed abyss where she hopes that he cannot move from, however it does not work as only humans need space to move and that does not apply for a God like him. He steps onto the abyss as if it were natural for him and speaks the word: "Walkure" (Die Walkure; The First Night), the space that Ichigo destroyed reappears as if nothing had happened to it. Odin tells her that the highest ability of God is the ability to create space, Ichigo realizes that Odin used this ability to create a space that resembles "Eye Space". Ichigo jumps away in order to think or a strategy, Odin then speaks the word: "Siegfried" (The Second Night); the distance that Ichigo had gained from jumping away from Odin closes itself in an instant and she is unable to move her feet. Odin tells her that no matter how strong her legs are. their is no human that can escape the laws of physics. Ichigo recognizes the magic Odin used as "Concept Magic" (Magical rules of laws). Odin states that as the "Ultimate Magi" his ability "Gungnir" allows him to create "Eternity", "Space", and "Rules" for which to govern it, he can control all the rules in the space he creates and change them to create new ones. Ichigo realizes that that is how Odin created this space and why whenever magi kill one another they take the defeated magi's magic. Odin tells her that with the "Ultimate Magic" he will be able to create "Life" the final absolute and revive SAKURA who looks exactly as she did when she died because of his power. Odin bids Ichigo to surrender because he has no reason to kill her and is sure that she understands that if he wanted to kill her, he could have. Even if she does not approve of what he is doing she must stand down because it would make SAKURA sad to return to a world without her. Ichigo sighs, realizing that all she's ever wanted was a normal life; even so, she says that she will not back down. Odin calls her a fool for choosing to die in vain. Ichigo smiles because she realized that she has always had what she wanted (A life with her family) but when Sayuki died, her instincts as a mother rather than a guardian made her want to protect that life no matter what. Because she promised Reiji that she would drag Odin home with her, she does not need a chance at winning, but only her will to fight. Ichigo dis-charges her magic while telling Odin that while she has finally gotten away from being alone that he deserted everything he had. Odin takes a stance and tells her farewell; intending to answer her choice with all of his power. Ichigo realizes her death but even so, she uses "Endless Banish" with all of her power behind it, Odin says the words: "Twilight of The Gods" (The Third Night; Gotterdammerung). Odin swings his fist while shouting "Gungnir"; a crimson spear releases from his fist, blows through Endless Banish and hits Ichigo.
