jinitiator is depreciated so it doesn't play nice with new versions of Java. It's actually incorporated into java now, but many applications never got updated to deal with it. The WMS software my last company used had this issue. To work around it there is a "hollow" version of the Jinitiator someone has made you'll need to find and put in place of the one you are trying to use. This looks like it, -working-on-windows-7/ Opens a new window so I can't be sure as all those notes and files are at my last place of employment.

Thanks a lot for the solution. It has helped me to run the forms with webutil without the IE 8 crashing. I am sure it will be of help to many more. The copying of the jvm.dll from ..\java\.. folder to ..\oracle\.. has done the needful.

we have this thick client application running on Oracle forms, using Oracle Application Server version 10.1.2.0.2 and the client side uses Oracle JInitiator: Version 1.3.1.22on some of the machines, we find the jinitiator console dumping thousands of lines similar to these:

updatethis problem does not happen to my laptop, which is having the same jinitiator version.the only difference I can see is the availability of different JREs and JDKs since I have eclipse installed on this machine..

The repainting of the screen is cause by the version of oracle forms, because it just isnt designed to be ran on Windows 7.
If this is causing issues with you being able to see parts of the screen, then there is not much that you can do.

Hi,
Sadly, I am not able to upgrade the version of jinitiator, and am just trying to get our unsupported version of ebusiness to run on windows 7. I have it working using XP mode, but it would be simpler to deploy if I could get it to work without using XP mode.

Oracle provides jinitiator for web based oracle application. Basically jinitiator is a Java virtual machine that allows us to run client applications inside the web browser. If a web based oracle application can be accessed then we call JVM. The working we did with help of plug-in or an active control that is depending on browsers that is netscape or internet explorer. It provides the ability to specify java virtual machine on client machine instead of default browsers JVM. Jinitiator runs as a plug-in for the netscape navigator and different components of internet explorer and it is not able to replace or modify the JVM.

After that client can be downloading Jinitiator form with their viable rendition of working framework. When we introduce prophet Jinitiator effectively on our framework then client need to close down navigator and restart it and return to the landing page it that HTML page. Presently prophet jinitiator will run the application and utilize various boundaries in the tag to deliver the applet. After that navigator discover the page that indicates the prophet jinitiator and navigator will easily load and run the module from the neighborhood circle with any client intercession.

It utilizes storing ActiveX controls and COM segments just as it additionally utilizes the HTML tag and web engineers indicate that ActiveX controls or COM segments that should run as a piece of Web page such sort of segment incorporate the prophet jinitiator. At the point when internet explorer first discovered the HTML document around then it has been changing the record to indicate the utilization of prophet Jinitiator, the internet explorer to client it is alright to download ActiveX control endorsed with VeriSign by prophet company.

In that event the client taps on the yes button, at that point internet explorer will download prophet Jinitiator. After the establishment of prophet jinitiator it runs and uses its boundary in the tag to deliver the applet. After that web voyager discovers the site page adjusted to help prophet jinitiator and it will easily load and run oracle jinitiator from the neighborhood circle with no client intercession.

Viewed 1000+ timesYou Asked Hi Tom, been a while. Sorry to bother you with what seems like a dumb thing but here goes:

My friend has a book store. He wants to do something like interface a pda of somekind to a live connection to an oracle database so he can do stuff like inventory update on the fly.

Our problem is we can't get any response of our oracle support buddies on how to go about this. They can't even tell us if Oracle10g has a built in development tool for writing mobile apps ** eyes roll here **.

Can you point us in the right direction. Send us to some technical documents, recommend a book or two, or maybe give us a name of somebody to contact. Something that can tell us things like:

what programming languages can we use
what kind of developer skills are we going to need to find
how integrated is it with oracle10g
where can we get sample apps showing oracle integration

My search skills must be getting rusty or I am developing some kind of neural deficiency as the years pass because I have searched high and low for information and how tos and can't find squat.

Thanks, keep trucking, Kevin

and Tom said...There are three ways to do this (at least)

a) wireless
b) disconnected client/replication

c) put a cheap wifi card in the pda and just a tiny web interface (many of the wireless concepts in a) apply here for building the screens)

Hope this helps you get started. I'll publish so others who have built similar things can comment over time.

I think nowadays almost all the hotels use Micros Opera PMS. Has any of you got a issue with Windows 7 and Opera PMS?. For me YES. I got, recently we ware updating our windows XP to Windows 7.after we updated, Opera PMS application is not responding. Its loading ,but where ever you click, opera is not responding. For this issue I did some research and found this this is known issue with Oracle Java Initiator in windows 7. So I found workaround for this and it works for me. do this in local admin logging.

Hi:
I got the same issue but its on Windows 7. I have worked on this for weeks but couldnot get it work. It asks me to install 1.3.1.18 jinitiator again and again. This is for 11i EBS. I use IE 9 for R12 which is fine but doesnot work with 11i. My colleagus suggested to use firefox. Would you please help me?
Thank you in advance.

Solution: Go to WinServices.
Click on Check account status and log in with your NICE credentials.
Scroll down to Paths - Folder redirection settings: make sure you read "Desktop Folder is not redirected".
If the desktop is being redirected click on "[Config]", and disable the redirection.
Log off from windows, and log in back.
It should now hopefully work!!!
