Iam able to print from my pixel 7 easily out of the box to my two brother printers HL-L2350DW and MFC-L2740DW. I believe it uses IPP protocol but for some reason can not take advantage of this via windows 11. I would like to not have to enter the printer's IP address as my local home network uses DHCP so I'd like my printing solution to be robust and work regardless of the IP address assigned.

With Windows 11 and its new Universal Print Driver, it can print to the cloud, and also on Universal Print ready printers. This may work, but it is not true driverless printing. That does not exist so far as I know.

For the HL-L2350DW I just needed to turn on wireless on my PC workstation which was hardwired and the IPP drivers are working on my windows PC. Did not need to install a driver on my laptop (windows 11) and surface (windows 10) and when I do a test page it will say it is using the "Microsoft IPP Class Driver" for systems where the Brother Drivers were not installed. Unfortunately just having a wired connection to the network is not good enough, needs to be wireless on the PC itself for this printer to work. Odd but I can live with this and happy to see "driverless" printing work on windows.

I bought this printer a year ago. Since getting a new modem/router, the printer WILL NOT stay connected to my wifi. I am able to successfully configure it and it works for an hour or so but the next day it displays an error message of "check connection".

I am beyond frustrated and I refuse to reset it up each and every time I have to print. I called Brother and their response was that the printer needs to be within three to five feet of the router (???!?!?). They said that the printers are "very sensitive" yet it's a "wifi issue, not a printer issue".

I never would have spent $150 for a wifi printer that needs to be literally next to my modem to work. I may as well have it wired directly. I have a small condo (1000 square feet) and the printer is in the room next to where my modem is located. It's maybe twenty or thirty feet away. There is no solid wall separating the two rooms--there's a large double doorway between them.

I'm so frustrated and upset that something so new and not inexpensive is useless. Do I have any options to keep the machine from constantly dropping the connection? I read somewhere else about "fixing" the IP address but before I mess with that want to make sure that is the right thing to do. Thanks!

Although Brother claims the printer and the device you are printing from both have to be on the 24.ghz network, I have printed for years from both 2.4 and 5ghz with no issues until I too experienced this issue where the printer goes into sleep mode and won't wake up. It literally disappears from the network.

It appears the problem is not "connecting", but "staying connected." So the discussion about 2.4GHz or 5GHz seems worthless. For the first 2 or 3 years mine worked properly. Now I have to unplug my printer and plug it back in every time I want to print. It disconnects after about 10 minutes.

I have two Brother Printers, both MFC, 1-B&W and 1 Color. I realized most of the comments are WIFI related, but I too had no trouble for years until I installed a new gigabit ethernet switch to increase wired #ports. After reading the above comments, I reinstalled the old "spare" switch, added it in line to the new switch and then connected both printers to the old switch and got the green light on both ports! They were amber on the new switch for the past 4-months. I thought well, most comments come in with printers working on slower speeds. Now both printers are back to full speed printing! Older 8-port switch is a Netgear GSS108E the new switch is a TP-LINK 16-port TL-SG116. Everything else worked fine with either switch. Most of my ethernet runs are 50'+ through a multimedia panel in a bedroom closet - I dislike wires showing. So, if it worked before, go back to what configuration you originally used is what I found worked to solve my printer connectivity problems.

1. For the WiFi settings in the router, what settings do you set, e.g. wpa2 , with AES / TKIP? another possible to check is to change to a less congested channel if using 2.4Ghz. Do note that 5Ghz range is limited, but lesser interference.

I have a Brother HL-L2395DW that worked OK until I installed an Arris modem/router. The tech at Arris said the work around was to change the two passwords on the router to be the same. This worked for a while but has failed again. I have a Win10 desktop next to the router that wakes up the printer and so it will print. My linux laptop and android tablet will connect to the printer.

I have a HP5200 Office Jet and have the same problem with the printer not working after it has worked and saying it does not recognize the laptop. I have taken the laptop to within 3 inches of the printer and introduced them, to no avail. Then, sometime later in the night, the printer will, on it's own, begin to print all items in the que. That's quite disturbing in the middle of the night, since my printer is in my bedroom. I have tried many attempted solutions, rebooting, unplugging printer and laptop, reinstalling printer settings, etc. with no resolution. Sometimes it works and many times not.

Recently, when the printer will not print on command, I discovered that if I go into the Settings and click on Printers and Scanners, the printer immediately starts printing, with out having clicked on any other choices, including selecting printer or making default, as it is always the default. This does not explain why the problem is happening, it just lets me print when I want to.

@BJones this feels like it could be my problem as well. The AP is next to the printer, but after a day it forgets about the connection. I can then also not select a new SSID. I need to restart the printer if I want to be able to scan for networks. Worst part is that it forgets my 32 character password each time.

Go to your printer settings on a computer, I went it from 192.168.0.7. If your printer won't connect to wifi, you won't be able to access this (as it's already offline) so one way is to reset your wifi setting on the printer, it should connect for a short period. Another way I found it would connect was to plug in via USB (it then made it connect to WiFi).

Unplug printer, then turn it back on and it will now sync to your electronic device. I actually did this process yesterday, but I wanted to wait over night to see if the steps actually stuck. Previously, I would have to unplug my printer and try and catch a brief connection on it just to print a page, and other times no matter what I did I could neither print nor scan, All credit goes to the person who posted the fix: Mr. Grey Bright!!!

After a lightening strike, my Arris router had to be replaced. After that, when my Brother Printer MFC 8710-DW would sleep, it would disconnect from my iMAC (OS version 10.13.6). Here is the series of things I did, and what happened. It appears so far that my connection is no longer being dropped. This took several hours, and hopefully my writing this will save someone else similar frustration and time.

This WORKS! I have literally ripped my hair out trying to connect my printer like it was before I changed modem/router to the new panoramic 2.5/5 one and these instructions WORKED! Now I can connect from any iPhone (that is connected to the wi-fi in my house) and PRINT!!

August 19, 2019. Mark this day in history. It WORKED! I have literally typed my WIFI password in easily 1,000 times to print over the years. Many future hours of my life have now been saved. Thank you so much.

HERE IS THE SOLUTION: If you've recently switched from 2.4GHz to 5GHz wifi - this is the problem! Brother printers cannot connect to 5GHz wifi, but if you ask your internet provider, they can split the combined network into two separate networks, a 2.4GHz one and a 5GHz one - then connect your printer to the 2.4GHz!! I spent far too long trying to figure this out, so I hope this saves someone the hassle.

My educated assumption what is happening is that after the printer goes into sleep mode, printing from the Mac does something that sends the correct signal to wake up the printer that Windows does not.

Have the same issue, but with MAC 10.15.15. The Brother Printer communicates with my Mac for five minutes. Afterward when I print, I get an error message saying looking for printer. WiFi indicator on printer is On, but it won't connect. I can always do an IPv6 reset on the printer, but that only buys me five minutes of print time. Then the printer goes right to sleep afterward and nothing wakes it up, except another IPv6 reset. Tried everything, including enabling CUPS via Terminal. This problem recently started after using my Arris Router/Modem for seven months. Never had an issue prior. Brother Customer Service claims their products don't work with Arris or Eero routers/modems. Beyond frustrated! Why can't Brother fix this!

The issue is not connecting to the wifi, the issue is that once it is connected, it won't stay connected. It says it is, but not a single computer in the house can print to it after it goes to sleep the first time. The funny thing is, if you open the Print & Scan app or program on the computer, you can scan, even day after it goes to sleep, but when you try to print, the computer will say the printer is OFFLINE. The only way to recover is to turn off the printer and turn it back on, then after a few seconds, the print job will start. I have tried every answer up here and none have fixed this issue.
