Bethesda restarted and poured pressure on Rhyl, but try as they may
Rhyl's defensive line held strong and in fact Rhyl's defence was just
one of the major differences between the two sides with Bethesda's
number 8 making a strong run into Rhyl's 22 only to be brought down by
the ever present Richie Williams. From the ensuing ruck Rhyl secured
the turnover ball and again with strong running from the backs and
excellent passing skills released Jame Larminie to fly down the wing
using his speed and agility and took play to Bethesda's 22. With
excellent support from Rhyl 3 quarters and back row Glyn Higginson and
Lewis Maxwell, James Farrell popped up to run over in the corner for
the try making the score 13-0. With the wind increasing Brown was
unable to add the extras.
On the restart Bethesda kicked deep into the Rhyl 22 and for a good 5
minutes were able to keep Rhyl pinned in their 22 where James Farrell
chipped through for the Rhyl centres to chase and pick up, moving play
to the half way line and gaining a Rhyl scrum. The Bethesda full back
put in a try saving tackle which resulted in a ruck and Rhyl won the
scrum. From the scrum Lewis Maxwell picked up from the base of the
scrum and linked up with scrum half James Farrell who ran in the rest
of the way to score his second try making the score 18-0 at half time.
>From the restart Rhyl again began strong, Rhyl forwards put pressure on
Bethesda and secured the ball in Bethesda's half to release the backs
where flying winger James Larminie went over under the posts for the
try with Chris Brown adding the extras. Rhyl had by now taken control
of the game and the Rhyl forwards worked hard to secure the ball to
release the backs. The Rhyl backs took the ball into Bethesda's 22 and
with excellent support running from Rhyl's back row, David Argles on
his return from injury scored bringing the final score to Rhyl 30
Bethesda 0 .
