Facing last years beaten Cheshire finalists , with a third of their
team unavailable, Rhyl knew this was likely to be a hard fixture and so
it proved. In spite of the conditions that were more suited to a
ploughing competition than a Rugby match, both sides attempted to run
the ball at every opportunity and served up an exciting contest to the
large crowd present. Rhyl's two tries came in the opening half. The
first from Henry Roberts came following a good break from Stephen Dean,
and it was he who scored the second following a flowing move instigated
by Will Morecombe in his own half.
The second period saw both sides fully committed but equally firm
defence prevented any further scores.
