Important courses coming up soon in North Wales which will help in the development of racing in the region.
An Event Organising Workshop is also in the pipeline, but with no officials, it will be hard to put a race on. It would be appreciated if you could promote both courses.
Thank you.

Welsh Cycling has secured a Community Safety Award Scheme (CSAS) training day for Saturday 29 March 2014 in North Wales, venue to be confirmed  (but likely to be in Colwyn Bay area).

The training day will be delivered by Gwent Police and those who attend and complete the course will become an accredited CSAS marshal. This empowers marshals to legally stop and direct traffic at competitive cycle events.

CSAS marshals play a very important role in road racing by controlling traffic at major junctions, roundabouts, narrow bridges and making other highway hazards safer for riders to pass. The scheme enables both moto and static marshals to exercise these powers. CSAS training courses are free.

If you are interested in attending the training day and assisting at road events in Wales in 2014 or if you would like more information about CSAS please contact Anthony Antippas, Workforce Development Officer anthony....@welshcycling.co.uk

Circuit commissaires course  which will be held at Marsh Tracks,  Rhyl on Sunday 6th April.

http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/zuvvi/media/bc_images/bc_road/2013/20130116_tameside_start_commissaires_560.jpg

The course is aimed at people new to officiating and those who want to support their local closed circuit events. Interested? It is only a three hour course and takes you through the commissaires role pre, during and post event. There is also an hour’s online learning module which covers the role of the commissaire, safeguarding, anti-doping and conflict management.

The next step is to get out there and gain experience at events, which is recorded in a logbook. Once you feel confident you have all the experience you need to be a commissaire at a regional event and you have attended a minimum of six events and completed the various roles e.g. gear checking, sign on, judging, Assistant Commissaire and acting as Chief Commissaire, you can send your logbook in to be upgraded.

The course can also be attended by anyone who is already a road commissaire and wanting to recap on the closed circuit elements of their role.

Please contact our Workforce Development Officer anthony....@welshcycling.co.uk to book a place.
