Have you heard the news?  RHYC won the bid to host the 2010 Junior Olympics on the Chesapeake Bay!   This is an excellent opportunity for the club to gain exposure to the young sailing community up and down the East Coast.  The goal of the Junior Olympics (or JOs) is to broaden the base of youth sailing by establishing fun, yet competitive events around the country.  The 2010 JOs will include Optimists, Laser Radials, C420’s, and Windsurfers.  More information is available on our website:  http://rockhallyachtclub.org/jo.htm

The JOs are scheduled July 9-11, 2010 and we’re already starting to plan.  We’ll need a navy of volunteers.  This event will only be as good as those members that get involved and actively participate in the fun.  Perhaps you have a side interest in publishing and are willing to write articles for the various periodicals, or maybe you’re an avid sales person who can assist in seeking local sponsors.  Whatever your talent, we really need your talent or expertise in a given area.

Our kick-off meeting is scheduled for Saturday, October 24 at 10AM at the RHYC.  Please show your support by attending and volunteering to join the fun.

We are looking for committee owners and individuals available to help in the following areas.

-       RHYC JO Event Chair:  Wanda McCue

-       Registration

-       Publicity

-       Clothing Sales

-       Food

-       Awards

-       Sponsorship

-       Housing

-       Parking

-       Fun

-       Clinic

-       Rain Delay Events

-       Grounds/Safety:  Ron Mansfield

-       Race Committee:  Chuck Parry

We are lucky to have Wanda McCue as the event chair for the RHYC JOs.  You can contact Wanda via email at wem...@yahoo.com with any questions or to sign up to help.

Please come on out and join the RHYC JO Team!
