A bill I am for so far in this class is the Stem Cell Research Bill
because I believe that by prohibiting a practice that is such an
advancement in science, we are going against a very blatant part of
our Constitution that fosters the very practice of moving forward.
Being from a family with a member that has a degenerative disease, I
would want any type of treatment that would allow people who suffer
from illnesses such as MS or ALS should not have to receive the
diagnosis as a death sentence, which it is now, but for there to be a
cure. So many lives would be saved, and in comparison to the usage of
discarded embryos from fertility clinics, stem cell research would do
more good than harm. We have a new president, a new type of
government, and we live in an ever-changing world. If we prevent
ourselves from expanding our knowledge, especially one in the medical
field, we are preventing ourselves from the future.
