Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work Places
Progress and Way Forward
Gurgaon First is a prominent Citizen Initiative striving for positive change in the city. It has conducted over 26 workshops for the city of Gurgaon, including workshops on Women Safety. Our workshops are well-conceptualised and delivered through top rung experts and speakers.
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 mandates every organization to define their sexual harassment (SH) policies, prevention systems, procedures and service rules for employees.After the passing of the Act, companies have taken a number of mandatory and pro-active steps in the area.They have formed the SH committees and are building capacity of the committee members as well as employee awareness.
However, several companies are still on the learning curve. Capacity building and awareness among employees and committee members is highly uneven acrosscompanies. What is needed is knowledge sharing and learning from experiences among companies. Besides, thereis an urgent need for having an institutionalised mechanism for reporting on SH to local administration.
Gurgaon First is organising a workshop on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work Places onSeptember 3, 2015. The workshop aims to build networks among companies to improve understanding of SH in Act and spirit as well as seeks administrative support in streamlining mechanisms and structures to make it easy for companies to file their SH reports. The workshop will feature SH Act expert, legal expert in a panel discussion with companies.
The workshop will be useful to HR heads, SH committee members as well as external members of SH Committee.
