Below is the question you will be asked to answer in class on Monday.
To help you brainstorm this question, and to help ensure you have
thought through the ideas, I would like you to post a bulleted outline
for this answer. You should have at least 8 bullet points. This post
should not be posted to everyone; post it to the sender only (that's
me!)

Question to be answered in class Monday:
Characters in folk tales are often seen as archetypes. The interplay
between these characters can provide important insights about the life
view of the culture from which the tale derives. In a short response
(3 paragraphs), discuss the use of archetypes in "The Fisherman and
the Jinee."
Your paragraphs should address the following:
1- Identify two characters and what archetype they represent (consider
how/why you say that).
2- Analyze their interaction and its effect on the message of the
story (what is the action? what is the outcome?)
3- Ultimately, decide in what way these two characters reflect the
culture to which they belong.
This is a reader response, not an essay. You will need to be concise
