If I open source my google reader client and rhosync source, is this
considered a GPLV3 situation?
The google back end is obviously closed source.

Thanks,
Jorge

Jorge,

Our interpretation of GPLv3  is that if you have no control over the backend that you are integrating with, then you are compliant with the GPL by publishing all of your source (Rhodes client code, RhoSync source adapter) under GPLv3.  If your RhoSync source adapter  is interacting with your _own_ backend app, that backend app would need to be GPLv3.

So I believe you're fine publishing your code under GPLv3. Please let us know where you do so.  A public RhoHub app is a great place to do that.
