"Back in the day", it was considered "treasonous" for anyone on the list to
consider buying anything that Stan made or sold from anybody else. The idea
was that keeping Stan in business was good for all of us whether or not we
could save a dollar here or there on a given item. There has been discussion
on this subject over the years (even the few years that I have been here).
and I do think there is merit in the idea.
I will tell you nonetheless that I did buy a boat cover from Art Czerwonky
(Stan doesn't make or sell those) who is a list member (cover-man at
comcast.net) with which I was quite satisfied. My recollection is that Art
had some kind of arrangement with Stan (for a while at least) and boom-rooms
may have been part of it.
You will have to talk to Stan or Art or both and examine your own conscience
to decide what to do, but
whatever you do BE CAREFUL. ;>)

Be advised that Stan requires a 5% homage to be paid to him on all Rhodes
22 transactions (sales between private owners) or he will not acknowledge
your existence. He also has a disdain for early model Rhodes that were built
by subcontractors before he got the company on a sound enough footing to
build them in house. I fear you are beating your head against a wall trying
to give him business. Aside from the IMF there is nothing on a Rhodes 22
that can't be bought by other suppliers. That includes the trailer as I have
rebuilt mine from other sources and it is built to spec. What are you
looking for ? If I can help I will.

There are no old Rhodes, only old Rhodies.

Believe me when I say this, because I was once the biggest complainer. He sells boats and not parts, so you are better off making it yourself or adapting an off-the-shelf part to work. If He does take the time (away from his boatbuilding) to rummage around the yard to send a part to you; having not bought your boat from; consider yourself lucky and respond graciously. (or at least stop complaining)
John S used the correct word too. "homage". Too too funny

I have a 1983 model. Was this one subcontracted out? I wouldnt mind paying the fee. He should be professional enough to reply and ask for the money though. I fear the end of the Rhodes will come if he doesnt offer support to older boat owners....sad. I want to support Stan, because of what he has been doing for all of us.
