Come on Ed, Maybe I should have put HUMOR in the subject line. I rarely
pay attention to political posts because I am ignorant of all things
political and never reveal my true leanings. The Republicans haven't been
able to dry up that gov't teat we work hard to fund and Herb rants
about...and probably never will. The only brilliant thing I have heard
come out the mouth of ANY politician in the last 10 years was when Newt
said we should dump half of the strategic reserve into the open market so
all of the speculators would lose there asses and think twice about ever
running the price of oil up. No one took notice until Osamabama repeated
it and the price of gas dropped 15 cents over night. I don't know
anything about Palin's positions (stop it!). I made a crack about her
being hot at the begining of her RNC speech; my wife grabbed the remote
and made me watch the Andy Griffin show marathon on TV land. I really
care less who gets into office. The insurance industry and lobbists run
the country anyway .Like the last 3 or so elections, it comes down to the
lesser of two weevils. evils? I am a blue collar unionized
tradesman, make six figures, have a well funded, managed
investment/retirement portfolio, drive a company truck with a company gas
card. My wife (Morgan Fairchild) is a public elementary school
teacher. We have two teenage sons and can have no more, enough money
saved to put them both through college, and a stash of assault rifles
(bought before the 1995 ban), crates of ammo and years worth of MRE's and
water stored in our mountain retreat/bunker (in Canada) and am a Druid
(reformed). So I think I am pretty insulated come what may and not
concerned about abortion, gays, war, the draft, gas prices, etc. Yeah,
yeah, that's the ticket. But I am going to vote for McCain because he
is real old and Palin is oh so cute. (sssssh, don't tell my wife though,
she still thinks I am voting for Ron Paul... he he he)
Just tired of all of the political crap,
Todd T PS Slim, I was joking. And Ed why are you so down on
Marxists. I thought Harpo was a riot.

Slim,

In the last 8 years how many responses other than technical drawings
eminated from Todd? Maybe a report on surgical repair. Slim what did
you
do to him?

Recent commentators on this forum should understand Todd has been
lurking
here for a very, very long time. And he is one of the original
complainers
about political posts.

Then the other day we had that Phildelphia Lawyer complaining
republicans
are not republicans. Maybe he can motivate his former buddy, you know
Steve, from Florida to come on line?

They work
perfectly. They were designed to put the American people into a
political
coma, and that’s what they’ve done. Sheldon Richman

PS -- And thanks for the drawings. I saved them and needed to use one
just a few days ago. Made me think of you and wonder how you are
doing. Apparently you are doing fine.

Todd, don't feel too bad on your decision here about voting for the
Palin/McCain ticket. You may have just succumbed to the oldest trick in
the book. Sex sells. When McCain was showing his compassionate theatrics
side prior to the RNC I suspect he watched Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct at
the hotel he was in. He had an epiphany or something. (does Viagra have
side effects?) Well, anyway, now we have Ms. Palin. Champ Biden doesn't
have a chance with his beauty queen candidate. Sitting across from her at
the debate and the poor guy's childhood stuttering will come back with a
vengeance. Checkmate.
You might want to reconsider though if you like the ability to be in a
union. It's probably a good thing you have plenty of MREs it sounds like
your wife might not be so enamored. R.Day

There you have it folks, she was only picked for her looks. Frankly
Richard and Sherry, I think you'll find that most of us only see her
looks and gender as an ADDITIONAL asset.

Richard,

Obama was sold as "sexy" and "a rock star" as compared to Hillary.

There are bare chested, emerging from the surf photographs that I
believe were released by his own campaign committee. Young women noted
that he is so "cute" as their reason for voting for him.

The left doesn't seem to understand the concept of a double edged sword.

Bill I do understand completely. It seems like everything in it's rawest
form comes down to sex and money. McCain was getting killed prior to the
convention, needed something to jazz himself up to counter Obama's growing
appeal. Pretty simple except I don't think he actually put his country
first with his VP pick, as he claims. R.Day

Bill,

Just reference the London Times article that Brad posted:

"What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?"
"One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty
sexy piece of eye-candy. "The other kills her own food."

NO! no no....it would have just been too obvious what he was up to if he
picked Jesse Watts.

Richard,

McCain was getting killed prior to the convention by everyone OTHER than
Obama. When Obama emerged as the nominee it was on the basis of youth,
sex appeal, change, and the assumption that the Republicans would match
his old white man vp with an old white man vp of their own.

Sarah Palin is the governor of the largest state in the Union with the
6th largest GDP per capita in the nation. She has proved an able
administrator, tough negotiator, and highly respected leader.

Her state has a pro-choice constitution that pre-dates Roe v. Wade, and
neither she nor anyone else has ever made the slightest attempt to
reverse it.

Like Joe Biden, Mario Cuomo, and a host of others, she was born
Catholic, and takes the tenets of her religion seriously; however, like
them, she has repeatedly stated that she will not allow her personal
views to influence her duties regarding public policy, and the will of
the people.

Dr. Howard Dean was still practicing medicine in 1991 in Vermont, the
second least populous state of the Union after Wyoming -- home of our
current VP. He was also (part time) Lieutenant Governor of Vermont when
the Governor died in office, making him Governor. I don't remember the
left questioning his ability to be President or leader of the National
Democratic Party based on any perceived lack of credentials.

Sarah Palin is an excellent choice for VP. She brings far more
experience to the table than the crooked political hack from Chicago.
And she's a lot tougher than Hillary.

This country has got to find consensus if we are to have any chance of
pulling ourselves out of the hole we have all allowed ourselves to
stumble into. There is no chance of that from a candidate who has never
spoken up on any issue, and who is now calling his opponents "Liars".

McCain/Palin is the best political ticket I've seen in my lifetime.
Working with a Democratic Congress there is a real chance to get this
country back on track without all the posturing that has passed for
policy of late.

Bill,

There are two things that would make the McCain/Palin ticket a home run
for me, unfortunately one requires they be elected first, and I don't
think McCain would do the second:

1) He follow through and bring some Democrats into his cabinet
2) He announces that he will be a one-term candidate, and then honors
that promise.

Herb,

The Grand Slam will be the Palin/Jindal12 ticket! Sarah will blow-up
the GOP as we know it, just as she did in Alaska. The donkeys will
reclaim their party from the 'Deaniacs', and maybe we'll have a Palin
v Bayh contest or Jindal v Hillary ticket, or, something good either
way. What we face now is a watershed event. One thing at a time.

BTW, I like my adopted congressman from Gulf Coast Mississippi, Gene
Taylor (D).

I'm waiting for someone to start a campaign to convince McCain to agree
to a single-term pledge. If he did that, especially if he did it say 30
days before the election, I think that would nail it for him.

Then Plain could start getting her campaign ready.
