Rich,

Could you possibly check with the city to confirm we don't need a permit to replace a broken toilet?  Since you are already dealing with the city for the roof, maybe you know who to ask.  R.Jan is quite busy with HiHo!

Rich - I agree it would be good to check with the City but it may be difficult as the toilet is already installed...

Below is a snip from the Burlington Permits page (https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/DPW/Construction-Permits/FAQs) which makes it seem like we wouldn't have needed a permit (assuming the toilet was less than $1000 which I sure hope it was!).

from this we have learned to  pay better attention to process...moving forward, an email instead of verbal communication is required, for letting folks know what each of us is thinking about fixing in the building...This flow of communication between the 2 organizations is essential, so that we can support each other in the repairs.

(fixing the broken toilet in the women's bathroom in anticipation of the HiHo's, has been spoken of often, but not in the form  of  an email).

When necessary, we need to check with the city to discover any permits that might be necessary for the repair.

There are no further repairs being considered by RHM at this time.  

RhM has hired a cleaning service to clean the building in anticipation of the Hiho's.  

Please put on your radar: we will need  to winterize the windows this year!  we didn't do that last year, and the building was really cold! I am concerned about the integrity of the stained glass star as well..

General Fall  cleanup will take place on Sunday, Oct. 13th...we'll  put the gardens to bed and build  the sukkah!

At this time i am unavailable to make an inquiry for a building permit for a toilet replacement. The earlier email containing the code language suggests a permit is not required.
